sitting players with two fouls in the first

I really hate that strategy with Costello and schilling. We have two guys that both give similar production, if one gets 3 fouls you still have the other.

We lost this game in the last 10 minutes of the first half, we almost did the same thing at Iowa with fouls but hot shooting in the 2nd turned it around.

We can't go ultra small or play wollenman, we'll dig big holes if we do that. I'd rather play the bug guys and risk the 3rd foul and be down 6 vs 12

We had to play minutes with no big and Clark and Dawson on the floor together, they never play at the same time and that hurt is on both ends. We also had to play wollenman and you can't just look at point allowed or shots missed, there's rebounds you might not get and changes in the attention from defenders.

Giving up points in the first with the hopes of gaining more in the second is risky.

I think izzo should treat schilling and Costello like one player with 10 fouls and be ok with them combining for 5 in the first if it comes to that.

We don't run plays through those 2 and didn't give up anything in the paint so I don't really think not having them was the issue.

I think we lost for the same reason we've lost many of the games. Couldn't hit open shots or free throws.

Honestly Wollenman is just a slight drop off from Costello. The problem is much bigger than Schilling and Costello. Maybe if dawson made layups, maybe if the team shot better than 50% from the line, maybe if there was a go to scorer, then there would be more Ws.

Overall this team is just ehhhh, and that's the performances we'll see from them the rest of the year. If you think otherwise you're foolish.

If you think wollenman is a slight drop off from Costello I'd like to hear why the other team always has a big run as soon as he comes in the game.

I've never agreed with coaches that automatically sit players when they get 2 in the first half. It's too conversative. Coaches used to wait until they got that third foul to sit players in the first half. Sure occasionally they'd get that 4th early in the second half, but not usually. And I agree. Treat Costello and Schilling as 1 guy with 10 fouls.

And as for Wollenman being in there. Well other than him only being 6-7, lacking athleticsm and any semblance of an offensive game or shotblocking presence, yeah they don't lose much.

If you guys think Costello brings any of these things to the table you are blind and borderline crazy in my book. Costello wouldn't even start at a D2 school.

Costello is my whipping boy but to say he wouldn't start on a D2 team is crazy I think.

Costello is a serviceable Big Ten big man. Wollenman is a guy who shouldn't see the floor unless the outcome is decided or both Schilling and Costello have 3 fouls in the first half.

We all knew deep down this year had real "train wreck" potential from the start :) Its been tough to tune in quite frankly. Costello is inconsistent but he is only one cog in this rusty machine. This team needs so much, start at point guard and work your way down accordingly, dare I say complete overhaul. Sbee said Rutgers is a must win and it is, they just got piss pounded by nearly 30 to PSU today. What Rutgers team shows up, that one or the one that can beat a top 5 on bizzaro day?

I think it was more the case that the Michigan State version of Wisconsin showed up that day in Piscataway...they blew something like a 14 pt lead and just looked completely inept.

Rutgers beat Wisconsin without Kaminsky and Trae Jackson got hurt late in that game. that wasn't the typical wisconsin team that they beat. I give them credit but you need to keep that in mind.
