Slay

I loved the pick then and I love his development now. I loved the pick mainly because he locked down Corderelle Patterson in college...little did I know.

I wanted milliner cause I didn't see much depth at corner that draft and there was a ton of depth at DE. Glad we went the other way around cause Ansah is starting to show signs and Slay is vastly improved. That being said I don't blame anyone for sucking on the Jets....they all do. Its where players go to die...

Still think we need another first or second round corner. Slay has shown to be good but Mathis is getting old.

I'd see what Cincy would want for Dennard.....I read somewhere he might be available this off season.

If it's a reasonable price......I'd jump. I still think he turns out to be the best CB from last years draft.

But yes, another CB is a priority. Both Lawson and Bentley are coming off season ending injuries and both are better suited for the nickel/dime role anyway.

a lot....and I mean a lot of projected high round corner talent in the draft. RT should also be a high priority. Potentially a DT as well. Itd be nice to swing a deal for a corner so we can focus on the other positions of need in the draft.

top 6 in below list are legit. Not sure if Trae will come out but hes the top corner in a lot of mock drafts right now. Then youll get the 2-3 small school prospects that are late risers.

Rank Player Pos. Pos. Rank School Class Ht. Wt. Proj. Round

Why would Cinci. trade Dennard already?

He's not getting much playing time. A lot of first round picks playing in front of him, they might have an immediate hole to fill.

Not saying they will, just a reason why.

Okay. I wonder how much Cinci would take? 2nd round pick?

For a guy they don't want/need that hasn't produced, I would hope they'd take a 3rd for him. A 2nd seems like a bit much for him.

I agree but as a recent pick..I wonder is he just playing bad or not given a chance because of talent in front of him?

I don't think they need him. But if they're willing to let him go after just 1 year, it's almost gotta be something bigger than just not needing him. The gm that drafted him in the first round last year doesn't care if he goes...ouch!!

They've really fallen in love with the idea of CBs in the first round. In theory, it's a passing league and one way to deal with it. But it seems that the better recipe is to build a front seven that can not only limit the run game but also help your secondary by not making them cover as long.

I remember, in the preseason, Marvin Lewis said Dennard was the best rookie corner he had ever seen. Shortly thereafter Dennard got hurt. I would love to see him come to the Lions but I think he is staying in Cinci.

I don't think Dennard is going anywhere.....just remember reading they might be willing to part with him.

Also, if Waynes is the highest rated CB in the draft I'm not sure I would consider it very deep. I'm a Spartan fan and though I think Waynes is good....he is a 2nd rounder at best. He is weak, will get manhandled in press man, doesn't tackle well....and is solely an ankle tackler against bigger COLLEGE backs. He is good in coverage, but not great.....and too many times gets lost in his zone.

I thought I was crazy reading this thread earlier, but today Slay sort of proved my memory right getting burned and having PI calls against him. When has he played well? Granted, I haven't been able to watch all the games out here on the west coast, so perhaps he was dominant some other time? Seems like whenever I pay attention he is getting beaten on any route they run against him, short crossing routes, mid-level outs, deep go routes, etc.

last time I thought he was awful was the jets game. Today was definitely not a good game. Couple calls were questionable....the severely underthrown pass he didn't turn around on was probably uncatchable and shouldn't have been called. Bad positioning a lot this game though....haven't seen that from our dbs much this year.....needs to be corrected.
