Should the Lions fire Gunther if they get blown out in the Saints game and if they do, do you think Spagnuolo would come to Detroit as the D Coordinator?

I would hire him in a blink of an eye. He was a beast D coordinator with the G-Men.

I'd agree with this as Spag's next destination...makes a lot of sense...also, realize that Gunther runs Schwartz's preferred wide nine. If you fire Gunther, the next DC will also run the wide nine, dictated by Schwartz.

In that case someone tell Schwartz the wide nine hasn't worked and our pass rush is pathetic.

Not so sure Spags is a sure fire thing for the Eagles. During his first tour of duty there he was upset with Reid as he felt Reid was intentionally holding him back which helped make leaving for New York an easier decision for Spags. That was a long time ago, though, and maybe Spags is past it, but it wasn't all roses and rainbows between him and Reid then...

Rams have fired their GM, Devaney, and HC Spagnulo this morning, and the Bucs' HC Raheem Morris whose team lost ten straight games to end their season, has been fired as well:

Black Monday: Bucs, Rams fire coaches

I imagine that a few other NFL HCs, especially the Cowboys Garrett, the Eagles' Reid and the Jets' Ryan will be squirming on their hot seats during next season if their teams again start losing some games that they should have won or at least have been competitive in.

Speaking of Rex Ryan, his brother Rob, the Cowboys' DC who as we all know, had publicly dissed the Lions' star WR Calvin Johnson earlier this past season, had this to say prior to the start of the game that resulted in a Cowboys' loss to the NFCE-title winning Giants:

"Ryan is making sure the family will be there to see a Cowboys victory. Ryan has flown his family to New York for the Cowboys showdown Sunday evening with the New York Giants in a game that will decide the NFC East championship."

"They're going down there to watch me become a champion again," Ryan told the New York Daily News. "That's what they're there for, all of them. Hell, it's a costly endeavor, but I want them to be there when we win the East, and I'll probably steal a couple T-shirts and make sure they get them. Because that's what we're there for.

those Ryan brothers sure do insert the foot to the mouth....1 more then the other ;)

We're 9 sacks behind the league leaders. We rank among the top teams in QB pressures. I don't think pass rush is the problem.

We're just not a complete defense yet. A season ago most of us were praying for a CB in the 1st round of the draft and a safety early on. Nothing has changed. Our secondary has played well due in large part to the pressure we get on QBs, but they are far from elite.

The defense has holes left to be plugged, but all in all, it hasn't played poorly as a complete unit.

The problem yesterday to me was Alphonso Smith. He was in position to make tackles and make plays and blew it.

I want Spags. Crap head coach but great D coordinator. If there's one thing I absolutely despise it is talent under-performing and face it that's what they did this year. The Green Bay game was almost as bad as any performance the 0-16 defense put up...

Hed be a great get but not so sure him and schwartz would see eye to eye with schemes. Theyd have to sit down and im guessing itd be a looong talk.

As much as I'd love to see Spags on the Lions sidelines, only way I see that potentially happening is Gunther retiring before Spags gets an offer elsewhere...which ain't bloody likely.
