and 12 of 16 as well. for a lot of programs that's a huge accomplishment, we're shaking our heads a little bit after a 7pt win against a 12 to make it. I know we shoot for bigger things than this but it's amazing what Izzo has built.

So much of this tournament as I watch teams go down year after year is simply avoiding upsets. However Izzo does it, he's able to do that.

Off the top of my head these are the only times I can remember him losing to a lower seed in the tournament
2001 vs Arizona (Final Four 1 vs 2 seed)
2004 vs Nevada (1st Round 7 vs 10)
2006 vs George Mason (1st Round 6 vs 11)
2012 vs Louisville (Sweet 16 1 vs 4)

On the flip side, wins vs equal or higher seeds
2003 as a 7 over #2 Florida and #6 Maryland
2005 as a 5 over #1 Duke and #2 Kentucky
2007 as a 9 over #8 Marquette
2008 as a 5 over #4 Pitt
2009 as a 2 over #1 Louisville and UConn
2010 as a 5 over #4 Maryland

i believe UK was the 1 seed in 1999, tennessee was a 3 in 2010.

we have 3 lifetimes worth of epic tourney games all from one coach

We were the #1 seed in 1999. Kentucky was the 3. Though they were the defending champs and most predicted they would win that game.

I think in 2010 Tennessee may have been a 6, though I'd have to look that one up.

But agreed on all the epic tournament games.

Correct, Tennessee was a 6 seed that year. Georgetown was the 3 seed but lost by 14 in the 1st round to 14 seed Ohio.

I know ut lost to oosu who was a 2 or 3 w evan turner.

Also crazy is that izzo has only lost 3 short prep games, one to texas in 2003 and then unc in 2007 and 2009, 12-2 in the round of 32, 6-1 in the elite 8, 1-1 in the nc game
