the 18 game scenario and contracts

Just curious if players make same for season or if contracts and salary cap are expanded to account for additional games. For instance, say CJ is making 16 mil per year which is obviously 1 mil per game, if they go to 18 games is he then making under 1 mil per game or does his contract automatically keep same per game rate, and the salary cap goes up accordingly as well?

any change in the schedule will have to get NFLPA approval.

The 18 game regular season involved losing 2 preseason games. Still would have been a total of 20 games total either scenario.
