The Appalachian State win in 2007 was so significant, that a study - http://www.appstate.edu/~mt54813/documents/Trivette_Admissions.pdf “/ - was commissioned to determine how much impact the victory would have on Undergraduate Applications to the school and results aren’t really surprising:

As of 1:30pm on November 9, 2007, the admissions office at Appalachian State University had received 8,218 total applications for undergraduate admission. When comparing this number to last year’s data we can look at November 14, 2006 when the office had only received 6,605 applications. This is a 24.42% increase in applications for 2008 compared to 2007 at the current comparison. Another interesting side-note to this year’s total thus far is that it already surpasses all of the applications received for the entire year of 1999.

Responsible for a whopping 25% increase in Admissions applications that fall, the University of Michigan Football Team’s darkest hour gave exposure to a small school in Boone, NC that virtually almost nobody outside of the region had ever heard of beforehand. The school website was said to have crashed as a result of Google searches (presumably, primarily out of Ohio) and the University “jingle” got Hot! Hot! Hot! and went viral in hours! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVENWl8uBeg&feature=player_detailpage

Indeed, although already two-time defending "FCS" National Champions, it was only after beating MICHIGAN that anybody knew who App State was and now “everybody” knows who App State is …especially the fans of Michigan Football.

On the heels of a very erratic and disappointing 2013 campaign, not too many experts are predicting much success for the Michigan Wolverines this year. With the media darling and favorite up the road in Lansing still dressing itself every day in its comfy Us Against the World pleated khakis, the truly overlooked Wolverines open up against the program it made famous just seven years ago.

But in seven years, an incredible amount has changed. To many, the 2007 loss to App State sounded the death knell for Lloyd Carr and his staff, citing an inability to play “up tempo” and complacency within the lockerroom. That sentiment lead to an era of Michigan Football that most would prefer not discuss and some have written entire, lengthy books on... Once the FCS Powerhouse, App State finished 4-8 last year and is not seemingly the program it was even at that level from 2005-07.

Regardless of past history, this Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, MI the program that has won more games than any other …won a larger percentage of its games*, while boasting both the most Iconic Helmet of all-time and best Fight Song in the land will once again, and for the 135th year, take the field.

Coming in to the game, and despite the outcome in 2007, Michigan is a five touchdown favorite, currently sitting at Michigan (-34.5) with some movement down over the past month from as much as M -37 for some books. The Over/Under is 54 Total Points (ranging 51-57 over the month) and while I guess there are some out there who see ghosts of 2007, it’s unlikely the Michigan team is unaware of App State.

After all, they put the school on the map.

So post your Score Predictions with some supportive analysis if you wish, but leave the Woofing and the Barking for other threads.

Mich -34.5, over/under 110?! So like, Mich 72, App St. 34? I don't know about covering the spread, but I'll take the under. Are you sure that's right?

63-9. Appy St. kicks 3 field goals but doesn't score a TD, Michigan D scores on a pic 6, Shane Morris comes in late in the 4th to finish the game.

Go Blue

M 900, App State -900. If App. State SCORES POINTS in this game, I will be livid.

Michigan - 56
App State - 6

If we can't replicate the ass beating we put on CMU to start last season, I'll cause a hullabaloo.
