Congratulations to bphillips4gg nailing it on the head, 28-0 in last week's Maryland score prediction thread! For getting the score exactly right, bphillips4gg gets twice the number of Props!!

On to Northwestern ...

In what many pundits are calling the "game of the week" in college football, the #13 Northwester Wildcats come to Ann Arbor lead by a stout defense and classic Pat Fitzgerald team. Having shutdown the pre-season favorite Stanford in week one and getting past a pesky Ball State last week, the undefeated (5-0) Wildcats are still the underdog according to the handicappers in Vegas. A line that opened at MICHIGAN -12 has come down substantially to a much more realistic MICHIGAN -7.5 with an Over/Under of 35 Total Points.

Michigan enters the game on the heels of a four game winning streak at (4-1), with the only loss coming in week one against what many folks consider now a formidable team in Utah. Also lead by the Defense, MICHIGAN has posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the Carr era and have managed to shut down opponents' key play makers.

So go ahead and post your prediction with some supportive analysis if you wish. I am on the road in a hotel room but wanted to get the thread up before MichChamp got pissed! lol

And as always, leave the woofing and barking for other threads.

[EDIT] - Line has moved to MICHIGAN -9.5 ...money coming in on Harbaugh apparently.

14-13 Michigan. Northwestern seem to be a real grind it out type game for us lately.

2-0 Michigan! In all seriousness it'll be something like 17-10 Michigan

I'll be watching to see how Michigan plays so I know what to expect next week. Good luck to you guys. I think game day purposefully didn't come to this game because they want to come to MSU @ Mich game.

I had the same thought when I saw where they were going this week. Both teams need to win, if they do there's a good chance Gameday is in Ann Arbor next weekend.

35-6 Michigan

Not sold on Northwestern's run defense. I'm sure it'll be the best we've seen since Utah, but I don't think that's saying too much. Also not sold on their offense. The running back is supposed to be really good, but this defense will be ready for what they throw at us. We've shut down better backs this year.

As for our offense, I suspect a full length, 80 yard drive will be difficult to do without a passing game. However, our defense will put us in good positions for short field drives and possibly produce points on their own. I feel this is the week that Peppers breaks a big return. He's been close a few times.

Same as in past weeks, the defense gives up some early yardage and maybe some points before clamping down and nullifying any offense Northwestern dares to bring into the Big House. Jake does just enough to win the turnover battle and we cruise to an easy victory.

Immediately following the win, Jim Harbaugh is offered the LA Raiders job and accepts. Did I say LA? I did. I hear his wife likes sunny California weather and hates college towns.

Yup. On the other hand, if it comes to a position battle, we have a good punter and return guy.

Well, the punter is good most of the time. As long as he doesn't run for it on 4th and 22, he's good.

NW is really good on punt coverage as well. They are 19th in the country and only giving up 4.86 yards per return. This might not be the game Peppers breaks one. If it is, it will be all the more satisfying to see.
