Toe meets leather at precisely Noon, EST this Saturday in Ann Arbor when the #12 MICHIGAN WOLVERINES play host to the #3 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes for the 112th meeting between the two -- with MICHIGAN maintaining its slight historical edge, despite the past decade of futility against its archrival. And no matter what some clickbait article on SI.com says, The Game is still …THE GAME and if you need further proof, you can drive up the road to East Lansing, walk up and buy a ticket to MSU vs Penn State for face value. Tickets for The Game are going for well over $200 on average and that is following last weekend’s upset win by Sparty in Columbus.

More importantly, Monday afternoon shortly after lunchtime, young Chad Carr passed away after his battle with an inoperable brain tumor came to an end. Probably the saddest day for the Michigan family since the 2006 passing of Bo Schembechler, Chad and the astounding amount of support and awareness he created through #ChadTough did something few in the history of athletic rivalries ever has – he put the rivalry into perspective for what it is.

The Game, after all is just ...A game.

And on Saturday, kids not all that much older than Chad honestly, will take to the field and play a kids game while representing universities and football programs before over 110,000 rabid fans (myself included), many of whom as kids themselves once attended these schools or grew up following the teams. And for a few hours, millions of fans nationwide will be treated to a diversion from life and its complexities and what really matters, and instead, suspend reality for just a while to watch kids play a kids game and feel like kids themselves again, cheering for their team or school.

For what it’s worth, the ‘experts’ are calling The Game a Pick ‘em with either MICHIGAN or Ohio State favored by a point or two as the line has moved back and forth. But any idiot knows that when these two teams meet, the records and rankings have rarely mattered and that every member of both squads will leave it all out there on the field.

So maybe the toughness and strength that Chad Carr displayed during his short lifetime will inspire the kids taking the field Saturday - on both sides of the ball - and while in the midst of intense competition and in the heat of battle, they will remember what it is they are doing….

Just playing a game, having fun and for just a few hours every fall Saturday, letting all of us be kids again, for a while, just watching.

Go Blue!
God Bless Chad and children everywhere waging courageous battles they don't deserve at their age to face ...

That's all, I’m done.

(I am this close into talking my sis into forgetting the hotel and buying tickets and driving back and forth same day -- ticket prices are dropping and I NEED TO SEE THIS GAME LIVE)

This one turns into a shootout a lot, even when Michigan's QB has a broken foot. I'm sure it'll be called a homer pick, but after last week's showing (all year, for that matter) I just can't see OSU winning in Ann Arbor.

Michigan - 34
OSU - 24

I don't know if UM will win this. OSU is over rated big time and plays poorly at times. However the luck always seems to go their way and the bounces seem to fall in their favor. They have been a team UM has struggled with lately and momentum matters.

UM has had its short comings and survived a game or 3 this year as well. They have only been beaten once and gave a game away to an inferior opponent, who manages to catch more lucky breaks than any other.

With that said I'll be shocked if UM wins the game. But I'm a Homer all the way, and regardless I'll be in the mountains chasing elk.

UM - 28
OSU - 13

I am still very nervous about this game despite what happened last Saturday. I want a win so badly against this team, but I wanted one just as bad against MSU too. However before the season I predicted Michigan would beat one of those two...so gotta stick with it.

Michigan 34 OSU 29

I don't have a prediction right now. I just wanted to say that that was a beautiful (and spot on) opening post Vic! You always do an amazing job with these threads, but this one is just in a league of its own. Well done!

Go Blue!

seconded.

In honor of my favorite Michigan player and favorite THE GAME memory, Michigan 21 for Tim Biakabutuka.

In memory of my least favorite buckeye of all time, Ohio State 9 for David Boston.

this one is tough to predict. I'll just say:

MICHIGAN..24
OhioSt.......16

this is THE GAME, or as MSU fans call it, the game to determine who can say they lost to us on a tiebreaker.

OSU 27
UM 23

Well, my Wolverines have performed way better than I expected. I didn't think they had the talent, man was I wrong. Amazing what a real coach can do. So with having said that...

MI 36-28 GO BLUE!

O$U is in full meltdown. UM is ravenously hungry to crush them. This game will not be close and Harbaugh will run up the score, twisting the dagger multiple times over while destroying the fucknuts with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!
