Hoke wouldn't go as far as calling Gardner questionable for the bowl game. But doesn't sound like a total certainty right now.

Apparently he's still on crutches

I took my kids to bw's yesterday, i was thinking about some ways to troll you guys about that bowl. As I was leaving I saw a framed picture of Leveon Bell holding the BWW trophy, brought me back to reality

I did some self-trolling with the title. I figure if I'm going to give crap to my Kmart Sparty wife for her team going to the Chicken Nugget bowl last year it's only fair to give myself grief this year.

wait....what? I didn't realize Gardner was that hurt! Wow, my respect just went up for him 1,000% after his performance in the final game. He was hurt so bad that he's on crutches 2 1/2 weeks after the game was over and people bitched that we decided to go for 2, instead of putting him in overtime. Maybe they'll re-think that assessment a little?

I doubt he would have survived more than one OT if this is true.

yeah. well, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for apologetic threads from Josh, BigGunzBob, and/or Hungry

Devin using crutches as well as boot/air cast
Was not putting weight on it last week

I said he was hurt which was why he didn't run that last play in osu game
But this w as more than I realized.

After a long and tough season I hope they are just being conservative and trying to get the injury to heal completely before the bowl game. Maybe they are thinking that DG has played and practiced the whole season, and so the benefit of extra practice doesn't outweigh the benefit of healing the injury. Are these kinds of turf toe injuries hard to get healed and/or prone to re-injury if you try to hurry them?

I wonder how long he's been hurt. I remember from the Nebraska he seemed a tad slow.

Remember Henne?

"I think it was a courageous performance,'' Carr said at his weekly news conference Monday. "I know how much pain he was in. And some way he found a way to submerge his pain because of his will to win.

"You know, there are a lot of different arenas, a lot of different types of courage. But on a football field, certainly what he did was special. None of us who are a part of this team will ever forget what he did.''

I think definitely since the Nebraska game

But watching ohio state it was clear he was not as nimble

I also think his shoulder was banged up

bah! how is this any different than when people accused rich rod of making excuses?!?

I know. Same thing. Winning 9 games including Florida between championship seasons with the Heisman winner = 3 wins, worst season ever because App St. Good thing they forced Lloyd out. He was horrible.

Because REASONS!

Did you know this? You might like it because interesting.

Well, if the linguists are dissecting it then I guess it's solidly moved from the realm of the cool kids to the old farts.

...but how is that usage "implicitly ironic"?

I'm thinking it may have started around here....

He does have turf toe, right?

Turf toe, aka "Metatarsophalangeal joint sprain"

- Often, the injury occurs when someone or something falls on the back of the calf while that leg's knee and tips of the toes are touching the ground. The toe is hyperextended and thus the joint is injured. Additionally, athletic shoes with very flexible soles combined with cleats that "grab" the turf will cause overextension of the big toe. ... The injury can be debilitating for athletes of many sports who need to accelerate, quickly change direction, or jump. Use of the toes is not possible during the healing process. Since the toes are necessary for proper push-off when accelerating, those sorts of athletic activities can be almost completely curtailed. A healing period of one or more months is often required.

In the 2000 NFL season, Charles Woodson started all sixteen games of the season but suffered a turf toe injury, which prevented him from practicing. He finished the year with 79 tackles, intercepted four passes, forced three fumbles and recovered one fumble. He was named to the All-Pro team by Sports Illustrated, and second-team honors from the Associated Press.

So playing on it is possible. You just have to be as awesome as Charles Woodson. Not asking much there.
