Now that the Winter Meetings are behind us, the Hot Stove season is officially and fully operational. The month of December will be the busiest time for teams to be making deals and signing free agents.
If we exclude the signing of starting pitcher Alex Cobb, what 5 other players are on the wish list for the Tigers to sign?

The rumors that the Detroit Tigers are 1 of 4 teams interested in signing free agent Alex Bregman have been confirmed. Bregman played for A. J. Hinch and 1 of his best friends is a coach with the Tigers.
His agent is Scott Boras who recently turned down a 6-year $165 mill contract extension from the Houston Astros. It is said that Boras is looking for a dollar figure that starts with a “2.”
Fans should expect that any new contract will be close to that $200 mill figure and around 6 years.
Bregman will be 31 years old by the start of the 2025 season. He plays 3B and just won a Gold Glove, leading all AL 3Bers in 7 major categories. He ranks 6th defensively at that position with a +6 DRS.
Offensively, Bregman finished the 2024 season with a .260/.315/.453/.768 slash line. His batting stats have been gradually trending downward. His walk rate has plummeted however he had one of the lowest strikeout rates in MLB.
The Tigers switched Jace Jung from 2B to 3B where he had a rough debut in 2024, leading the team in negative DRS. The Tigers have 2 other 3Bers in the minors but they are currently in A ball.
The Tigers infield leads MLB in runs given up. All of their fielders, save Jake Rogers and Trey Sweeney, are negative defenders.
Given these stats, timeline, resources and solutions, should the Tigers sign Alex Bregman?
Should the Detroit Tigers sign Alex Bregman?

I'm not sure on this. He can be a decent hitter even a very good hitter (.845 OPS over last 108 games). And he's solid defensive player at 3B. The big problem will be the years he'll most likely get. I don't care about the money so much, it's not mine .. but I don't want someone for 7-8 years. Not when he's 30 already.
