Tigers vs. pirates Game Thread May 19

that's the burnett I remember pitching for the yankees,
walks, bases loaded,

Kelly takes a fastball down broadway strike, outside, low, fastball fouled back, inside full count, popped foul right at the rail to the stands....
fongool

Kelly with a career .412 average with bases loaded fouls out to 3rd. 3rd baseman reaches into the seats to make the grab.

That seems to be the theme early in this season. We just can't get that big, clutch hit in those situations.

Well, at least we can forget about this team's struggles every 5th game when JV pitches.

We are dead last in the AL with a .154 average with the bases juiced.

Price mentioned the fans needed to help out on that one.

They do. That's when fans need to understand which team is at bat, etc. Unfortunately, very few of those people attend games. I remember seeing a highlight about a year ago where a guy was sitting down the right field line in the outfield in SF. A ball came his way and he reached over the rail and caught it before the SF right fielder could catch it. The right fielder was pissed and started screaming at him like WTF are you doing? The guy pointed to his SD Padres cap....funny as hell.

Dirks goes opposite line drive for a double,

Cabrera not chasing slider away, grounder between first and second moves Dirks to third,

Fielder takes outside, nubs a grounder up first base line rolls foul, fouled down left, knuckle curve is drilled deep to right for a 2 run homer,

Tigers tie it up 2 all,

Young takes the first pitch strike, slider low is lined to left single,

Avila strike call on/off the corner, Young going on the hit and run chopper to second fielded by shortstop throw to first Young on second,

Boesch takes a strike, fastball high, grounder over second to the shortstop,

burnett at 59/60 pitches.
