Trivia

Larry Heardon. I think he hit back to the pitcher on his 5th try.

hit to the SS

Okay. I knew it was a grounder but somehow I remembered a Squibbler back to the mound. Thanks.

Didn't Rudy York do it as well?

I thought Larry was the only one. Maybe it was special because he did it in two consecutive games.

I did read though when York was a rookie he didn't start until early August and then went onto hitting 18 home runs that month. Damn. That's some rookie coming out party.

I did some more research and York never had 4 consecutive. But Hank Greenberg did it July 26-27, 1938.

Mike Cameron, Rocky Colavito, Carlos Delgado, Lou Gehrig, Bobby Lowe and Mike Schmidt all did it in the same game.

The following did it in consecutive games; Mickey Mantle, Bo Jackson, Jimmie Foxx, Hank Greenberg, Charlie Maxwell, Mike Epstein, Larry Herndon, Manny Ramirez, Troy Glaus, Ralph Kiner, Art Shamsky, Deron Johnson, Mike Schmidt, Shawn Green, Johnny Banchard and Albert Pujols

Didn't Dmitri Young hit three or four straight to start the season in the early 2000s?

Yep. 3 to start the season. I forget which year it might have been his first here.
