Stephen Tulloch - LB - Lions

Free agent MLB Stephen Tulloch plans to test the open market.
"My family and my situation going on, I just want to continue to play football and get what I deserve, and that's what it boils down to," Tulloch said in a Monday radio interview. "And hopefully, things can work out (in Detroit). If not, I know another team will step in there and do what's right and move forward to win some ballgames." The cap-strapped Lions will have a hard time signing Tulloch to a long-term deal if he reaches free agency.

Really wishing we could restructure CJ already. That is going to screw us over hard if we can't manage that.

smh one decent year and all these top draft picks' contracts are biting us in the ass. Son of a bitch. Well, if they can manage to hit on draft picks then this should be less of a problem in the future. Still sucks though.

looks like the Eagles are going with Dan Conner...so thats 1 landong spot gone....Tampa Bay seems to be the other potential spot or back here in Detroit.

Foster was great for them last year....wonder why theyd be so quick to move a young guy to another position. If i was them you keep Foster in the middle and throw everything you got at Vjax.

Looks like Tampa is going after Lofton

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports the Bucs are expected to make a "strong push" for free agent MLB Curtis Lofton.
It appears the Bucs' new regime is ready to pull the plug on the Mason Foster experiment at middle linebacker. Lofton already had one foot out the door in Atlanta before Saturday's signing of Lofa Tatupu, and is now almost certain to be playing elsewhere in 2012.

There's also Fletcher, Hawthorne, and Mays out there. MLB FA class is loaded. Mayhew is probably smart for letting him test the market.

Tulloch only fits 2 or 3 teams as a 3 down MLB....Mayhew knows that.

How much is Tulloch worth on the open market, do you think? 5 per year, 7? He's been a huge addition to our defense, and certainly we could probably get a sizable chunk of space just from extending/restucturing Calvin. We probably aren't players in FA anyway, but it would hurt a lot if we couldn't even retain guys like Tulloch.

Its a loaded ILB FA class, and he doesn't fit a lot of teams, so I doubt he can get what Jackson got.

Tampa and Phili have been linked to him, but it looks like Tampa will target Lofton and the Eagles Dan Connor. Not sure who else would shell out big $$$, and there's still David Hawthorne and London Fletcher, so I think Tulloch ends up coming back at a reasonable price

MM knows what he's doing.....he knows Tulloch has limited options..its risky, but the bottom line is MM probably wont lose sleep if he is lost and overpaid

Curtis Lofton - LB - Falcons

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports the Bucs have cooled their pursuit of free agent MLB Curtis Lofton.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, "Bucs fans should pump the brakes on (Lofton)." It's possible Lofton's contract demands are simply too lofty for a team reportedly in the mix for Vincent Jackson and LG Carl Nicks. Regardless of whether or not they ink Lofton, the Bucs figure to make finding competition for MLB Mason Foster a priority.

Lofton would be a huge upgrade for the bucs. They need serious help in their secondary as well.

@AnwarRichardson According to a source, #Lions are working hard tonight to re-sign Stephen Tulloch. They are arranging backup plans if it can't happen #NFL

i like tulloch much more than a guy like hawthorn for some reason....eventhough hawthorn has played himself into one of the better middle lbs out of nowhere. hopefully we can get er done.
