On game day they had a clip with him talking about the spread O. He was in his personal office with all of his memorabilia from Utah, Florida Bowling Green. Over his shoulder was a big picture of Woody Hayes. That made me really feel like he will be the next Nut coach.

Gay or not, He's probably the next ohio* coach.

good! as much as I love seeing them suffer, I don't want any excuses when we start bitch slapping them again.

I think Urban waits and replaces Kelly at Notre Dame after next year.

Respectfully disagree. Kelly will win at notre dame.

I would love meyer to go to osu. Would be great for B1G and for competition

100% of Ohio* fans expect and want Urban Meyer now. There's been some rationalizing and convincing, but they're all on board and assume he's taking the job for sure.

I hope that Keith Urban Meyer gets the Ohio* job. It will be a magnet that will draw better players to the entire conference. There is not a marquee coach in the conference right now.

Mostly right. I don't deny he is a great coach and would do well here but on the other hand I think he would not last more than a 4ish years. I would prefer a long term coach with solid Ohio ties but I do not have a candidate in mind. At the beginning of the season I was hoping to see Fickell earn the job but it doesn't look like he is ready to manage an entire program like Ohio State. I am also not a fan of the other names getting tossed around Gruden (He seems to be a favorite for every job), Stoops (Not going to happen), Dantonio (If he had a heart attack at MSU then this job would literally kill him), and the final name I hear the most is Pelini. My concern with Pelini is that much of his head coaching success is linked to the Suh year. Since that year, it seems like his teams are not quite living up to expectations. Heck they almost lost at home to what looks like the worst Ohio State team in recent memory.

Maybe I'm alone on this but I was never terribly impressed with Urban as a coach, just like I was never impressed with Tressel. They're good recruiters but I think their actual coaching skills are somewhat overrated. Plus if Urban goes to OSU and brings his offense with him, we should all remember how well the spread option has worked in the B1G so far.

It does appear that the spread is waning, and the big boys are moving back to power football.

To a point I agree but I think the mark of a good coach is the ability to be flexible. For example, RR was panned pretty hard for running the 3-3-5 but Ohio State has run a similar defense for much of the past 4 years. Ours is more a 4-2-5 that uses a hybrid DE/LB called the LEO (This is one of the positions we are struggling to fill this year) and a hybrid S/LB called the Star. The biggest difference was that Ohio State was able to be flexible and go bigger or smaller when needed whereas Michigan under RR could not.

From a coaching perspective, my biggest concern would be how he used the running game. At Florida, they did tend to struggle in running situations especially after Tebow graduated. I never like having your QB being your primary runner, even when you have QBs like Denard or Terrelle. The thing is, Meyer has been successful every where he has been head coach. I may not agree with some of his philosophy but it is tough to argue with his results.

RR's defensive issues had as much to do with the fact that his staff couldnt teach proper technique and tackling. he also like the smaller quicker defensive players. I think the 3-3-5 could work if you had the right people teaching it who understood formations and offensive tendencies of the other teams. if its one thing we learned this year is our defensive issues had more to do with coaching then it did talent.
