5 star, Composite #13 player in the nation and #2 combo guard.

Had a 3 day weekend at MSU and loved it.

Boom.

big pickup, possible 1 and done guy.

Possibly, he's very skilled and very athletic, also comes from a great family and his folks are 100% involved and on board with his commitment. We have Ward and Langford, think we want a PG and another front line guy. Winston is still a possibility, then we would really like Bridges, or we may just finish with the 7-1" center tranfer.

Total shocker. Now time to hold our breath and hope we keep him. Really wish it would've been after he took his other visits. Could be a chance that he has second thoughts and opens back up. Don't know if I can take another heartbreak like that from a stud recruit.

Not a shocker at all, we have been his leader for some time, doubt he wavers as his family really helped him make the decision.

He is actually a distant cousin of Jeremy Langford.

He never took his visits to Duke, Kentucky or Arizona. I'd say it's a huge shock that he committed when he did. From what I can tell, he only visited us and committed. That makes me nervous.

he was supposedly looking to reclasify for 2015, i think he's visited a bunch of schools

If only they had some type of device you could ask questions to to get information like this, maybe something you could even put on your phone.

Langford visited Kentucky this Spring and has visited Duke, Michigan, Louisville, NC State and MSU last year.

That's what I see - Scout, Rivals and 247 all show him making either 1 or 0 visits. 247 does say that he's had 25 coaching visits, which I believe are coaches visiting him either in home, at school or maybe at a camp or AAU event. Maybe he's taken unofficial visits and those aren't tracked but I don't see any info on that - could be that info like that is premium content you have to subscribe to get.

It's on his timeline on 247, just have to view all 60 entries. Visited Kentucky in March. Izzo has been all over this kid for a year, he visited him a half dozen times. Visited all the other schools in 2014. This was his 2nd visit to MSU and he stayed for 3 days.

Also:

"Once I'm in, I'm all in," said Langford, who averaged 24.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a junior for Madison Academy, after a broken bone in his left wrist hindered his sophomore season. "I'm not the kind of person who would ever go back on a commitment; I don't believe in that. I want this (recruiting) all to be over so I can focus on my senior season and college."

Langford is a different type of kid, he doesn't have social media accounts and his parents were involved every step of the way in this process.

His film is amazing and Gary Harris is a good comparison although Langford is 3-4 inches taller, he might have more hops and better handles, although Harris was really smooth and strong.

yet another reason these sites are basically useless. 247 is basically saying a kid can take as many unofficial visits as he likes (or as many as are permissible by the NCAA) but until he take an official visit, he hasn't visited any schools. Thanks 247/Scout/Rivals, that's helpful. Even now, Rivals still doesn't have his commitment updated and they don't even have the Spartan logo on the top row of college choices. Right now, it looks like they're saying he's most interested in Memphis, Bama, So Car, Tenn and Vanderbilt. Maybe they do that on purpose to get people to subscribe to their premium services to get better summary information.

Edit: just refreshed his page on Rivals a little after 4pm - they now have him as a solid verbal to MSU. Welcome to the party Rivals.

It was a pretty big shock to me. I agree , hold your breath...could be another Swanigan flake out. Crystal ball had him at Duke and with KEntucky in the mix I never get too excited. Great pickup, hope it sticks.

I'm just going by what I read this morning:

http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2015/06/reports_five-star_2016_guard_j.html

"After a visit to East Lansing last week, Langford's commitment came quickly. The Spartans were one of a host of schools -- including Kentucky, Arizona, Duke and Auburn -- recruiting the guard, who had given little indication as to which schools he favored and taken no reported official visits as of early last week.

The first of those visits was to East Lansing in the middle of last week. And for Langford, apparently one visit was enough."

I really don't have the time to sift through these kid's shit to see what they had for dinner the night before. I guess I could always just go to the RCMB and bring over info from there and pass it on as "insider information".

Nothing surprises me anymore with recruiting. Just the last couple years we, at some point, "led" with Jabari, Ulis, Booker, Okafor, Swanigan.....I'm sure others that I'm forgetting at the moment. I'll hold my all in excitement until that LOI arrives.

I thought you said it was a total shocker? Im happy but not excited like i was with swanigan. LOI and ill breath easier. Ive removed myself mentally from the hoops recruiting. 1 guy bails it makes a huge difference. 1 guy bails in football the impact normally isnt as catastrophic.

Shocked as in it came out of nowhere. Usually these kids set a date or at least give some kind of indication that they are about to commit.

Decommits are what don't surprise me.

Sounds like the kid had half a dozen or more "unofficial" visits but if you look at any of the three big sites you'd think he kid was in hiding. You have to read through a nearly 3 year timeline and compile the info yourself to see he's actually been to all the big schools. Ain't nobody got time for that...

Nonetheless, it's good news but I'll also feel better after he submits a signed LOI. I've been a skeptic ever since Andre Ware committed to return to school after winning the Heisman only to break his promise and be the first in a string of bad draft picks, hires and trades that not only failed to build a team around Barry, but actually set the Lions back for years...

So we have Ward and Langford right now. Does that leave us with just 1 more opening as it stands now for next year or do we have 2?

A class of Ward, Langford, Winston and Bridges would look damn good. Could push for the #1 class.

Either way, looking like an amazing 2016 recruiting year for MSU sports.

Bridges is like Vince Carter, explosive ( I wont say beast, I hate overused terms). Looks like a Kentucky lean but who knows. I hope we have 2 more but im not sure. Never heard anything about Ellis leaving but was hoping he would peace out.
