That might be the next best place for him, with Peyton. NE low balled him big time from what I understand.

I think Welker wants to be paid off of his production (rightfully so) and New England doesn't see him as the kind of talent that kind of money brings..I'm sure New England feels like while they may not find an equal, they can spend a lot less money and still get along without him. Tough move for both parties.

Great fit for Wes if he goes though.

What's the point if you don't get paid based on production?

doesnt matter. if NE loses welker theyll go get amendola or someone and turn them into 120 catch per year WR.

With the way Manning can't really go down field like he once did, expect Welker to continue to get 120 catches if he goes there.

?@BKCBSRadio: Talked to a former NFL GM, he told me he thought Welker got pissed when he didn't get a long term deal from NE...?

Example

If I'm running a team and I sign a player who goes out for 5 years and catches 90 balls a season form my slot and wants to be paid like a 90 catch a year guy... (top 3 to 5 salary lets say), but I feel like our system has benefited him extremely well and feel like I can go get a replacement for him for cheaper and still not lose much production wise, I'm going to do it.

Lets forget we are talking about Welker and use it as a general statement for explanation...good organizations go under by paying role players top dollar. As a gm if you feel a guy isn't top notch, despite what his production is, you cannot go pay him based on that production because in the long run you'll be crippled. The Ravens have done well in releasing line backer who want big money...everyone is always hsocked and says they can't be replaced but the Adalius Thomas' and Bart Scott's of the world haven't been great outside of that system.

I never said top 3-5 guy. But 100 balls for 5 straight years deserves a 2 yr 12m contract.

I agree...I made that statement before I saw what Welker was offered. I figured Welker wanted around 9-10 mill or more a year. Had no idea his market was so low, especially after Mike Wallace gets 12.5 a year and Hartline gets over 6.

Did he want 9-10 mill? As I understand it, NE low balled him big time. Made sense to look around a little and I wonder if NE had a chance to match and didn't seem interested? Anyway, it probably went to the next best place, Manning needs a guy like Welker.

No no no..I just assumed Welker probably wanted 9-10 mil before the news, based on his production..if he really wanted 2-12 and NE didn't give it to him they're morons. Sounds like NE offered 2-10 so if they let him walk over 1 million a year that's really dumb. After seeing what he signed for in Denver I personally have the feeling Welker wanted a longer contract in NE and was turned off when the ywould only offer him 2. (yes I know he took a 2 year deal in Denver, but he probably felt unwanted/underappreciated by NE)

That's the Belichick way, wait it out. But you can't complain with his results, maybe this one bites them in the ass.

Yeah, this one seems a little different but as I said before, if they've proven anything it's that any WR (even Randy Moss after setting records) is replaceable. We'll se though..they have a lot of injury prone skill position players now.

Dudes....

Hoodie Bill and Welker were no longer seeing eye to eye and his wife LOVES it here. E Broncos waited until they heard talks btw Welker & NE soured on Tuesday afternoon.

They came in with slitly sweeter deal to the only team aside from TEN interested. Welker to Manning is a great fit and don't be shocked if Stokely makes the roster too.

Broncos are SB or bust and Elway has been a rockstar GM/President the past two FA seasons and drafts.

Welker bought in and #83 jerseys are already in stores, I hear

Edit: “@PeterBurnsRadio: RT @bylindsayhjones: Welker: "I was the one pitching to [Elway] trying to make this happen." #Broncos”

Elway has done a fantastic job thus far. Call it common sense but that Tebow pull alone took major guts.

So apparently Wes Welker fucking hates the Hoodie. My co-worker's wife is Demariyus T's personal manager (pays his bills, keeps his calendar, etc) and she picked up DT and Welker at the airport following the Duke workouts.

"Patriots way"
