Where's Jason Fox?

He was at Dom's house eating pasta the other day. The Hammer covered it in the Lions pregame. That's all I've got in Jason Fox news.

Pasta is a good sign, right?

Broken foot and hes a big fat man that has to use his feet.....takes awhile to get back. Should be fine in about a month.

Done sucking? He was a very raw rookie prospect last year. If he is going to become something for our team I would think it is going to take a little bit of time. As a raw prospect I am willing to be fine with him being a depth guy for a couple of years to see if he can develop or not.

Sammie Lee Hill was also very "raw" when we got him. I believe he has turned out to be quite a player and on any other team would be a starter. Translation - Raw = Raw and could turn into something decent down the road with proper coaching or may not...That is why those really "raw" players are drafted late.

The difference is SLH is actually good.

Was still raw coming out of college. SLH got good defensive coaches to work with. Just saying that Fox may still turn out to be decent and at least a decent depth guy. It just may take another year or two. If he does not grow into a decent player then he does not do it. The possibility is still there though.

It would be really nice to see something, anything, out of Fox in the near future. Backus is starting to show his age both with the injury and the subsequent mediocre protection. And neither Goz nor Hilliard have proved to be more than decent stop-gaps.

I agree. Got to think that we will be looking for OLineman next offseason whether they start right away or not. Even if Fox picks it up and plays well our OT tackle has been shaky on both sides as you stated. I am not quite as hard on Backus as most though. Allen definitely got the best of him which caused a couple of penalties at the end of that game that made me want to choke the life out of him. But, at the same time he is going through the ringer right now with Allen, Ware and Peppers this week. He held Ware off from getting a sack though and Ware was hot going into the game with 5 sacks in 3 weeks play. It could always be worse.

Fox played pretty well late last season and this preseason before he got hurt... I'm not saying he'll be an All pro but he should be a decent option if lord forbid Backus goes down. He'll at least get his chance within a year or so.. I also couldn't help but be impressed with Cullbreath this preseason.

If Jason Fox is the Lions "future" LT, then this team is in trouble.

Jason Fox - T - Lions Lions backup OT Jason Fox (foot) has resumed practicing.
Fox missed each of the Lions' first four games, and has been sidelined since early August. With starting left tackle Jeff Backus off to a slow start, Fox shouldn't be hurting for snaps once he finally returns to game action. Source: Detroit Free Press

I am quite terrified of the thought of Fox protecting Staffords blindside... I know he made progress during his first year at right tackle but damn.
