Since the Tigers signed Sanchez to that big contract which one of the other starters doesn't get signed? JV will demand $20-$25M a year and you will already have Prince and Miggy making $20-$23M a year. Do they let Fister or Max go when they hit FA? Do they keep Porcello and IF they win the WS trade Max or Fister to re-stock the farm. DD will have some very tough decisions coming up in the next year or so.

Why not keep them all. Fister is cheap for awhile, Max should also be reasonable. JV is a career guy, he shouldn't go anywhere. And Sanchez just signed.

What I mean is when they are due for thier big paydays. Scherzer is arb 12-14 and Fister 13-15 according to the site I was looking at. Scherzer should jump to about $7.5 this year and Fister to about $3.5- $4M. Next year Max will be in the last year of Arb and if he pitches well will go over the $10M mark and hit FA. The decision would be to maybe lock one up long term early to get a discount and maybe trade the other to re-stock the farm?

Lots can happen in 3 years. We might not want them all at that time. I know JV stays. The only guarantee.
