If I was going to add anyone it would be Moncrief. He's being mocked in the third but I don't think he falls out of the second. I may like him above the two WRs I have there.

Hey i wouldn't be mad at that hahahaha i love Moncrief tho. And I also voted for Crichton but would not for a second mind Dion Bailey, that's who I've wanted in the 2nd from off season day 1.

I like bailey too. That DE need scares me though. Ahmad Dixon might be a round 3 target if we go DE in rd 2.

Yeah that would be a very nice 1 2 and 3. Potentially 3 good starters in the first three rounds is exactly what we need. Although if we did take Crichton, I think he would be more of a rotational guy rather than a step right in 3 down guy like Ansah was, but he would provide good production his first year.

All depends on how Jones comes along. I haven't heard a peep about him. You would think he got injured early enough to make a full recovery by TC....but who knows. I think Crichton would play over Taylor. Taylor belongs in a back up/rotational role still.

IDK I think Taylor took a bigger step than you think last year.... Maybe the reason we haven't been worried about letting Willie walk and only signing depth guys, but who knows. The kid is big and strong and started to show he can play against the run. I agree we shouldn't go into the season relying solely on him to take over the job, but for sure have to give him the shot, I mean isn't that what we all want? A late round pick developing and taking over a starting job?

started running in feb. should be 100% by TC.

DE Jason Jones begins running next month and is looking forward to 2014

Posted Jan 6, 2014

It?s not a matter of if injuries are going to happen in the NFL, but a matter of when.

The Lions, like all 32 teams, had their fair share of injuries this year, but none might have been more costly than losing versatile defensive end Jason Jones to a ruptured patellar tendon in Week 3.

Jones was a first-day free agent signing for the Lions, who planned on using him as a multipurpose rusher from both the inside and outside.

Jones dealt with knee pain through training camp and the first part of the regular season, missing a lot of practice time because of it. That pain and the injury that ended his season weren?t related, however.

Jones was in Allen Park cleaning out his locker last Monday, just like the rest of his teammates, and said his recovery is on schedule.

?In another month I?ll be back on the field running and stuff like that so my recovery is going well,? Jones said.

He?s planning on sticking around Detroit through February to continue his rehab and then will head back to Nashville, where he still has a home, to spend time with his newborn child in March until the offseason training program begins.

Jones said he expects to be 100 percent ready to go when the Lions begin training camp in July.

His injury prompted more playing time for Willie Young. The fourth-year veteran started 15 games his year, had a career-high 47 tackles and matched his season-high with three sacks. Young is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Rookie fourth-round pick Devin Taylor also saw his role increase because of Jones? injury and he showed he has a bright future after recording 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles.

The Lions will benefit in the long run from Taylor getting on the field as much as he did this year because of Jones? injury, but they?ll certainly look forward to getting Jones back on the field in 2014.

I like what I hear. I know he didn't show up on the stat sheet much when he played before he was injured, but he looked like he was getting some decent pressure when in there. One more solid DE whether it be FA or draft and I think we should be fine.

Ryan Shazier is off the board. 31st to the Broncos.

My bad. I was wondering why he was still hanging around in the second. Maybe a mod can edit it.

Tight race Van Noy 3 - Crichton 4 - Bailey 5. I'm the tie breaking vote so far, I went Bailey.

If I was in the war room fighting for my guy crichton id say the drop off from de in rd 2 to 3 is more significant than the dropoff of talent at safety. if youre looking for starters at each position id go de rd 2. If were ok with jason jones starting then grab the safety in rd 2.

I second this train of thought for once lol
