Zone Blocking?

I'm not sure why (or how) I'm just noticing this but why is the zone blocking so much more effective than the power scheme? Well, with our aging line why not start trying to shift that way?

Is this crazy?

Not to mention the difficulty of installing a completely new run blocking scheme mid-season.

I wouldn't say it works better, just that it works differently. The Steelers in particular have been pretty good in the past with a power run scheme. Right now you're right some pretty good run teams use zone blocking, Houston, Oakland, and Washington come to mind.

you'd have to re-vamp the whole OLINE.

and our best OLINEMAN ( Sims ) couldn't hack it in zone blocking ( Seattle )....so I dont forsee the switch anytime soon.

Of course it wouldn't happen mid-season and I understand that we would need new offensive personel but we're really old there anyway so why not AFTER the season start trying to shift that way? I thought it was just an idea and wandered what everyone else would think

Didn't we try switching to zone blocking awhile back?

shift how ? draft zone guys and put them in a power scheme ?

won't happen under Linehan anyway.

i dont think they have a scheme. The only "scheme that has worked this year was the first play of the game vs dallas when we went 3 TE set and Jahvid went for like 15 yds. Then we didnt go back to that set the rest of the day lol. effing brilliant....

I think you misconstrued scheme and "good" scheme :)
