NFC Championship Playoff Game: Lions @ 49ers Thread

Campbell is the reason the Lions are here with his aggressiveness. I don?t blame him for the team collapsing in the 3rd. He didn?t drop 2 wide open passes and fumble on the first play at our own 25. Not like our kicker is automatic from that distance. If those 3 plays don?t happen the lions use a lot more clock and have at least one easier fg or td.

Welp, let?s do this again next year

What I can tell? Ya kick two field goals in obvious field goal situations, you probably win.

Sometimes it?s time to kick them in their teeth and bite off their knee caps.

Sometimes it?s time kick the field goal.

I ain?t gonna lie, I?m pretty bummed.

The Lions should have won this game, and should be going to the Super Bowl.

Playing/coaching the NFC championship game like it's regular season week 3 is a learning experience.

We have to fix tackling next season. We need to fix 3rd quarter issues badly.

I love Ben and he generally calls a good game. But up 24-10 they were gashing them on the ground. No reason to freaking go for the throat when the running game is working.

I think Ben not sticking with the run is worse than DC going for it on 4th down. The only one I thought was really bad was the one that worked because they used a timeout before it.

Unexcusable coaching errors by not taking points and burning the last timeout at the end. Reynolds should have caught both balls. That's game. If you would have told me Reynolds would drop those before the game, I would have called you crazy. Dude has been clutch.
Point is, they were the better team but caved when it counted. They are still 1 year aways anyways

Sadly it?s going to be hard for this team to make the playoffs next year. Division will be tougher, schedule is tougher for winning the division and every team you play coming for you.

Pretty sure the better team is going home. But we really need to fix the defense. Sutton can?t cover or tackle .

Plus wtf is wrong with this offense in the 3rd quarter.

Amon Ra St Brown in the backfield on 3rd down to run up the middle makes no sense, ever. Why would that ever be a designed play?

They did it alot last few seasons. It?s stupid now because they know he is going to run the ball.

Why ? We should be fired up with this offense to kill teams hopefully.

Why can?t Detroit improve, too?

They have some cap space. Players will be MUCH more open to play here. Holmes has drafted some really good players. Our defense could be A LOT better next year.

I love DC. As others have said a huge part of why we are here is because he takes chances.

The baffling part this time was he made the correct decision before the half and kicked the FG to go up 17. Niners come out in the 3rd and kick a FG to make it a 14 point lead, so the situation is dictated for you....just match the points. I could slightly see going for that 4th down if you were still up 17, but not 14. You just have to kick that FG. It was 44 or a 45 yard kick.

We still had plenty of opportunities to win the game, but when you are dominating you don't give your opponent an opening. Just make the boring, correct decision.

Yeah I agree that was a dumb play, if you want to get him the ball, screen it to him again.
