Tigers vs. redsox ALCS Game 3 Thread

I know we had a single and a walk tonight but out outfielders have given us nothing throughout the postseason.

Why does it seem like we are more upset about a 2-1 disadvantage in the ALCS in 2013, than we were during a sweep in the 2012 WS? I believe it's because we're literally beating ourselves. Boston isn't playing well, and our starting pitchers are on an historic run.. and we are still losing.

True but iggy doesn't seem to be handling this big stage well along with torri AJ, price and just about everyone else in the lineup

I'm just really disgusted with this offense

AJ, Torri, prince and others have really shit the bed...this could be the best starting post season pitching preformance in the history of the game we've been seeing here and the offense can't score a &(&(& run or two is just really sad, maddening and depressing all rolled into one...

Oh well I have to just not care now in order to deal with it, I'm just going to go blankly stare off into space now for the rest of the night

What offense?

The offence is getting it's lunch handed to them.

Boston isn't playing well? Lackey was dealing tonight, their bullpen did a great job too. They're sp have been good other than lester but he got bailed out. I'd say losing to stl in 2006 was beating ourselves, not this. We've had 3 one run games and lost two. Give them credit.

Also, last year we made the ws which is a big accomplishment so thr season is pretty successful already, especially after a so so regular season.

He's right, Boston has not played well these 3 games. They have made errors, watched pitch after pitch go by, only to get rung up on strikes, and they are just not hitting.

How many strikeouts have they made in these 3 games, coupled with the low hit totals....yeah, Boston is playing well below their level, which is why our pitching is dominating them. If we had much offense at all, this would seem like we were playing the Astros.

I give Lackey credit, he stayed with the curve today and threw it off the plate because the book on our lineup is we will chase the soft stuff away, even when we can't hit it.

But don't kid yourself, Boston is playing just as bad as we are. two bad/lucky pitches are the difference right now.

Your freaking joking right? I was really pissed off after we lost yet another low scoring game in SF 2-0 in game two after base running blunders, and knew the series was pretty much over.. Game three 2-0,and game four 4-3... This team just can't seem to win in the playoffs unless its NY or Oakland... I don't expect to comeback and beat Boston but hopefully we do.. So freaking frustrating our hitters keep shitting the bed but still we should be up 2-1 in this series which is even more frustrating.. I feel bad for our starters

I swear to god if you called up all of the whitecaps they would have got more hits then we did tonight lol. Its pathedic how bad weve been at the plate. Announcers were gushing over one of the Asians sliders I think to peralta....the ball started outside and broke like 4 feet more outside and we still swung.....that's just shitty hitting....not a great slider.

There's the postseason batting stats. I don't recommend showing these to children or the faint of heart.

Keep the fastballs away and get em out with soft stuff!

Way too slow to adjust, lackey adjusted after the first inning, the tigers? Not so much

John Lackey to Farrell: "You gotta be s*iting me" when he was removed from the game. Scherzer: "I was done." That's the difference in a nutshell between the Tigers and Red Sox. A few exceptions: Infante, Hunter, Victor, Jhonny--the have #TWTW. Not Princess, though. Yesterday, I said to sbee that Fielder needed to be in the lineup. I don't think that now. I say sit his fat butt down and play Victor at first. I don't care who DHs in Victor's place. And get Jackson out of the leadoff spot. Put Infante, Hunter, Cabrera, Victor, Jhonny ... anybody else. Or do the Martin trick I mentioned yesterday. Draw the lineup from a hat. The results certainly can be no worse than yesterday.

The ONLY thing that has surprised me in this post season is how dominant the starting pitching has been at times. The lack of offense isn't a surprise, the poor defense isn't a surprise and the shitty / inconsistant bull pen has not been a surprise. The only thing I like about this team is their 4 starters.

if I were Leyland i'd shake things up today, drop Jackson to 8 or 9, we still need his glove in CF. I don't know the numbers against peavey but someone else leadoff, maybe victor or JP. I know that's unconventional but what the hell, we need people on base for cabby. Jackson doesn't steal bases anyway so why worry about speed in the top spot?

If AJ does get on (which would be a miracle at this point) he is able to score from 1st with a 2B and from second with a single. Peralta and V-Mart are more of the same on this team....slow! Look at this lineup....if there aren't extra base hits not many can advance more than a base at a time.
