Ending Marijuana prohibition

over 650,000 marijuana arrests this year. that's absurd

How else can cash-strapped municipalities confiscate the pot-sale proceeds and fine the users/dealers (and charge them for each day of incarceration), to enrich their coffers?

Ummmmmm...legalize and tax, maybe?

Too many special interest groups that would stand in the way

it's also a good excuse to put black people in jail

also, I read a few years ago that the production cost of pot is similar to any spice, basil, oregano, etc. all the cost people pay is for smuggling

Hell, this might give mexican gangs less reason to murder each other. US drug demand is the main cause of the border crisis and the wars in Mexico

A state tax on legalized pot sales wouldn't provide as much of benefit to local and county governments.

Disclaimer: I no longer smoke pot and rarely drink alcohol, It was legal for me to drink in MI @ 18, and had my fair share of youthful fun with both in the late-60s-80s.

If people want to smoke dope in their own house I have no problem. I just don't want people smoking it when I'm out for a walk or grocery shopping etc. Which would happen if it was legalized..

Now if that had stipulations like none in public buildings like smoking a cig, etc..maybe. But eventually I think there will be more smoking and driving, not a good combo.

Do you see people walking around the park or grocery store drinking alcohol? Not saying people wouldn't try to smoke in public (like they do now) but I doubt it would be legal in most areas.

I'm just assuming if it was legal. I'm sure there's people who don't try or smoke weed BECAUSE they're afraid of getting caught but once it's legal...some stipulations and I'm fine with it.

I just don't want it in my face..

I walk around drinking from time to time. I pour it in a Styrofoam cup.

I haven't smoked weed for years, either in private or in public.

What if what Josh Gordon says is true, 2nd hand weed smoke :hehe:

It is impossible to smoke pot to the point of "inebriation". IMO. It doesn't take much pot nowadays to reach a buzz level that really can't be exceeded. The THC potency level of MJ is much higher than it was in the last half of the 20th century.
