Fire Harbaugh; Hire Miles?

Don't get me wrong; I was as happy as anybody when we hired the little kid from the other side of town that played in the little Pee Wee football league that I had played...but isn't this just a little auspicious?

Miles - who twice looked like he was supposed to be our guy, and got away because of circumstance - is suddenly and inexplicably apparently available; right at the same time Jimmy came up short against our biggest rivals when he was supposed to
be "the Messiah" of the program.

What if it is, in fact, Miles who has always been the Messiah?

Is it worth running the risk of missing out on him yet a third time?

Seriously? No. I'm already sick of the torches and "Fire Harbaugh" signs and people are just getting started.

I'm as disappointed as you are by today's result, but such talk is WAY too early, and may not even be necessary.

Remember, Michigan was not supposed to win as many games as they did this year. However, they did better than many of us expected, so our hopes and expectations got higher with each win, meaning coming down from that high hurt more than it probably would have if the team had sucked.

It's still been a pretty good season; I just wish they had beaten at least one of their obnoxious rivals.

Please tell me you are joking with this post. We gave Dick Rod 3 years and Hoke 4 years, but you want to fire Harbaugh after 1 season with a 9-3 record? I am pissed off as anyone after getting bent over today but that is ludicrous.

Dude it's Les Miles we're talking about here.

The Mad Hatter.

It seemed he's always been DESTINED to be the Michigan Head Coach.

In 2007 he was all but here but then Herbstreit effed it all up breaking the story prematurely HOURS BEFORE the SEC Championship game.

Then, three years later, Brandon met with Miles for THREE HOURS on the Baton Rouge Airport tarmac on the Domino's jet before turning around and going BACK to California to pick up Brady Hoke (Brandon had just left there after meeting with Harbaugh earlier in the day - no wonder both Domino's and Michigan ended up firing him - talk about inefficient management - all it would have taken was a phone call and Hoke would have WALKED to Ann Arbor).

Of course. Does Harbaugh have a $15 million buyout? If he doesn't, then he's probably not as good a coach as Miles.

I'm assuming tinsel's tongue is completely inside of his cheek

My wife - who understands sports - and pretty much everything else - through her ability to "thin slice" as described by Malcolm Gladwell in Blink - is stunned by what is happening down on the Baiyou - especially after the years of interventioning against Michigan.

Not that it was ever really supposed to be but - after all what happened over the years - now LSU is going to pay the guy $15 million to walk?

After 7 years of RichRod and Hoke?

Fuck LSU.

I hope they lose every game until the end of time.

This isn't a real thread, correct? You guys are really wanting Miles instead of Harbaugh?

Year one, the guy leads the team to 9 wins, maybe 10, and you want him out for a guy who's pretty much at the twilight of his career?

It's lunacy... and it's sorta not.

Lots of people predicting Harbaugh jumps back to the NFL after this season. I personally think they are all batshit crazy. If Harbaugh wanted an NFL gig, he would have interviewed with the Bears, Raiders, etc... rather than jumping at ][V][ right away.

But, for sake of argument, let's say he does. He heads back to the NFL. Les Miles might be a really nice replacement.

He's 62 years old, he probably has 3-5 years left of good coaching. JH isn't leaving anytime soon.

Firing Harbaugh for Miles would be an absolutely tragic decision, and luckily the athletic department won't do it.

You're just not thinking of the upside. You know Harbaugh's going to wear out his welcome, and his wife misses the Bay area anyway.

Miles is the kind of guy that will wait until a recruit has moved into the dorm for two weeks before telling him that there's no scholarship available. That's the kind of ruthless commitment we need.

Damn...Micihigan misses out on Les Miles AGAIN!!!

Miles.

Will this demonic entanglement NEVER be broken out of?
