Game 21 Tigers vs. mariners April 27, 2017 rain delay late start

19 runs Friday. And back to back leftys from a shitty team shut us down. Frankie is garbage.

What a pissed poor game. If that isn't enough for J Wilson to get some save opportunities I don't know what is. Problem is getting to the 9th with a lead. Bullpen is full of land mines.

ROARS:
Justin Verlander: He had several battles and needed 119 pitches to do it, but Verlander gave the Tigers seven strong innings and no earned runs.
Verlander, coming off two rough starts (13 runs in nine innings), was back on his game. He was pumping his fastball between 93 and 98 mph, mixing in sliders and curve balls expertly. He wound up working seven innings, throwing 119 pitches, allowing 5 hits all the bloop type, with 8 Strikeouts, 2 walks, and giving up just an unearned run in the top of the sixth.

Tyler Collins: Was the only Tiger with a hit in the game. Two of those hits were for doubles. He scored the tying run in the sixth. Sure, his poor defense/collision in center put the Tigers in a hole to begin with, but he rectified it and had a big day at the plate.

HISSES:
Francisco Rodriguez: Still isn’t right and after striking out Nelson Cruz, he gave up a double and an RBI single that gave the Mariners the lead. Bad. Very bad.

Tigers defense: Derpy. Enough said. Also, Collins gets an extra note for another poor throw in the ninth when he didn’t hit the cutoff man. The go-ahead run scored for the Mariners.

Tigers offense: Dried up.

Wilson Ks the side in the 8th and Bad Ausmiss goes lizard brain and brings in the "closer" to "close" a TIE game.

You just can't lose games like this and win as titles. We need to grind these type of wins out damn it. Brad is freaking clueless.

I missed this one. To be fair that is a common strategy to bring your closer into a tie game in the 9th if you're the home team. Won't get another chance to use him in an actual "save" situation anymore.

Now obviously K-Rod has proven less than reliable, so still worth questioning.

I can't necessarily sign that the closer's "role" is to pitch in the B9 at home when tied. Seems to me to be a herd-like decision. Wilson was/is nails. Hitting 98 while looking like he's flicking off a light switch. K-Rod throws 88 looking like he's falling out of the sky with out a parachute.

Fixed. Think you meant T9 at home.

Agree that JW looked good and also agree he should be given a chance to close.

And Brad should start trying to think outside the box a little instead of his usual herd mentality.
