Sit, stand, kneel, or do whatever you like for the National Anthem

Keenum is a backup who is starting because the starter got injured. Has it ever been confirmed that he would even sign a deal with a team as a backup?

Don't know but let's not forget the real reason CK doesn't have a job is because he's a moron. He would be making $14mm in San Fran this year but the dumbass opted out of his contract to test the market for QBs that don't fit most systems and are coming off 3 shitty seasons.

Why exactly do you call him a poison?? That's a much bigger issue here. The guy is doing what hundreds of other NFL players are doing, he was just the one that was attached to the cause.

No, no it's not. The ENTIRE issue is owners being scared to take a chance. His ABILITY is higher than the garbage that multiple teams are trotting out. I'll get into the stats and data with you if you'd like, but you cannot even debate that he's not better than Case Keenum, Jacoby Brissett, Mike Glennon, Brian Hoyer, etc...

It's just very convinenent for the people who are scared of who he is that he's not a great QB. It's worked out very nicely. Stop using that as a smoke screen for the real reason he's not getting a job.

Again, he's not getting a job because there are a tiny group of owners who are scared to deal with it.

Are you using the same click counter Trump uses to measure crowd sizes? You're WAY off.

Not precisely. By both I believe he means he's shitty and the baggage is too much, not that he is shitty and is also black. Tinsel?

Well the league is full of easy to replace second stringers both blacks and whites who don't draw controversial attention to themselves.

If any of them decided to do shit to make themselves s controversy they
would probably be easily replaced.

well, looks like blackballing Kaepernick is backfiring.

protests spreading to other sports and even some entire teams (Steelers, Seahawks).

Roger Goodell and the NFL ownership blows. they deserve this

Kneeling isn't a sign of disrespect just because Trump says so. Even when it's a protest it's a respectful form of protest. I can't think of a single example of kneeling being used as a sign of disrespect. But Trump says it is so a chunk of the media just runs with it.

There are times when football teams kneel to pray together.

Beyond that, when the coach says "take a knee" it's the equivalent of a sergeant telling a troop to stand "at ease."

In other words it's the opposite of standing at attention.

"Allright team, get over here and listen up, but first, everyone disrespect me."

Well obviously if the coach says "take a knee" it's not disrespectful to do so, just as when a staff sergeant tells a troop to stand at ease.

So when a football player takes the knee during the national anthem it's a specific declaration of doing the opposite of standing at attention.

If Trump wants to view that as being disrespectful he can. If a person wants to view that differently that person also can.

I think the switch from sitting to kneeling was done specifically to be respectful and there are no examples of people using kneeing as a sign of disrespect. You have to make up some way of looking at it to find disrespect where none is intended. And it's intent that really matters. If we're going to project disrespect where it isn't intended, then maybe I should take those posts seriously that shown everyone with their hands over their hearts during the anthem, with the exception of Trump.

I actually listened to Trump's statement. fucking, eh.

I know the "even Bush wasn't this bad" takes are often bullshit, used by hacks who supported the Iraq War to try to portray themselves as the moderate voice of reason under Trump... but I really, really hate Trump, and everything about him, from his bullshit fraudulent "personal brand" to the annoying, concern-troll way of speaking he has when he's trying to rally voters to whatever awful cause du jour he saw on Fox last night.

it wasn't this way with George W. ...

I hope next week NFL teams burn effegies of Trump while kneeling.

I'd actually tune in to watch that!

the bullshit "football" they play these days is certainly not worth my time.

I do think Trump has managed to stop the Black Lives Matters NFL protest. Now if someone kneels, they are seen as protesting Trump.

I don't remember the players ever sitting. All I remember is the kneeling.

However, while I just said "it's intent that really matters", I do recognize the limits to that. If there are enough people interpreting it as disrespect, you do have to make an effort to explain that no disrespect to the flag is intended. If enough people are telling you that you are being disrespectful, you should reevaluate your actions. I just think in this case, the NFL players kneeing don't mean to disrespect the flag and Trump hasn't won the battle to completely alter what it means to kneel yet.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...in-kaepernick-to-go-from-sitting-to-kneeling/

"We sorta came to a middle ground where he would take a knee alongside his teammates," Boyer says. "Soldiers take a knee in front of a fallen brother's grave, you know, to show respect. When we're on a patrol, you know, and we go into a security halt, we take a knee, and we pull security."

I don't remember Kaepernick ever sitting and a news report I just saw said he started kneeling last year.
