Game 6: Lions @ Saints Thread

Lions came back. Not the same ole Lions. This team is really good when healthy. Bye came at the right time.

Came back because the saints are a shitty team with a tad better coaches .my hey saw something in the tape and causes a million top passes. ADJUST, ADJUST jim bob and Matt please adjust !!!!!

Better hope the bad Pittsburgh team shows up becaue we are about to be 1-3 at home after that game if they get the running game going.

With our defense Green Bay's new qb will torch us in 3 weeks . Better show up verses Pittsburgh and shore up that run defense because Tomlin is going to ram it down our throat.

With ARodg out for most or all of the rest of the season, wouldn't be surprised if the Puckers signed Flynn as a backup to Hundley, maybe hoping to catch lightning in bottle again by week 9 MNF vs Lions.

Does it matter who the Packers use verses us? Until we win this game I am counting it as a loss in Green Bay because we will find a way to screw it up like we always do, and Austin's defense will get torched somewhere.

Two of the picks were fluke plays on tips. The other pick was Riddicks fault

Numbnuts, they tipped it cause he threw the ball directly at them. Like 12 times...

All on Stafford...hes the fucking qb. Hes the only one that can take the blame for a stat like that.

Tips are lucky. Especially so many when they fly into the air and get returned for pick 6s. Usually they fall harmlessly to the ground. Saints got super lucky. Those aren't on Stafford

Also Saints with extreme health and Lions super hurt everywhere

I did see this on the NFL injury report prior to the game.

Lions - concentrated injuries
Saints - extreme health

Strief, Fairley and Anzalone

They got Terron Armstead back who had the same labrum injury as Decker. Snead was back too

Saints had almost no injuries.

Decker, Martin, Hyder, Hill, Cornelius Washington, Ngata, Lang, Golladay, Dwayne Washington, Joe Dahl, Zach Kerin (both backup guards).

Then during the game Quin, Wagner, Greg Robinson, Golden Tate. Not to mention how banged up Stafford is due to Oline injuries.

Saints got super lucky injury wise. They basically played a backup Oline and had major guys like Tate and Quin and Ngata out.

The Lions won @ Lambeau, and should have won the later phantom facemask/no time remaining Hail Mary TD game by Rodgers @ Ford Field in '15.

if the Lions don't fix their oline protection issues, and/or the banged up unit doesn't get healthy enough, then that MNF game might be started by two backups. I think that Stafford is more injured than he is letting on, and his immobility, many tipped/off-target passes, INTs, and fumbles during yesterday's game was proof. He should have been taken out of the game in the second half, Caldwell might have lost Stafford for more games than just a half in a game where they ultimately lost by two TDs anyway.

Tips have nothing to do with "luck" when they do it 12 times lol. Thats the opposite of luck. Thats a moronic qb trying to dink his way down the field the entire game.

Stafford couldn't move due to his leg injuries. All 12 tips were luck for the Saints. And they were really lucky they got two Tds from them.

The Lions having to dig themselves out of a hole every game is the same old Lions. Need to get over this hump now. This team doesn't know how to close out teams when we have a lead, that is a problem. Its almost like they prefer to be down in games. I cannot stand the way this team plays for 3 quarters.

So basically since, a'shawn Robinson caught it, it was great talent, good play recognition and instincts. (All these I agree with)

However had Robinson only tipped this pass it would have been a fluke, even though he still would have done everything else the same?

Doesn't make sense. It would still be all those things, it would just be a very good play instead of a sensational play.

Fluke would be if a guys helmet came flying off and hit the ball in flight. Luck would be if the WR in front of a defender just randomly tripped giving the defender who was in decent position a chance to hit the ball.

Fluke and luck is not a team routinely reading a QB and getting their hands in the passing lanes.

Thats the result of a stubborn QB who hurts his team by trying to play hero while being too injured to be sufficiently effective in the pocket. All that he did was to not only get even more thumps, bumps, and bruises, but foolishly gambled on his not getting badly injured. Couple that with an injured oline, an OC who couldn't design plays to minimize and overcome the increasing weakened offense, and a HC who took a big risk when he kept Stafford in the game.

"Should have"

Been a term the Lions team and fans have been using for years sadly.

The last two pages of this thread on the Monday following a game are exactly how I expected. The 'L Word' in full effect.

The NFC South sends it's regards.

WCF is dead, so the franchise's only genuine "curse" died with him.

However, it still might be at least a season or two yet remaining to finally remove the lingering stench of his influence from 50 years of abject futility during the SB era. But perhaps it might even take the Ford family selling the franchise.

Lions went from an overly aggressive and undisciplined coaching staff, to a mostly passive and conservative staff. Only their DC seems to be fully competent, and he could be gone next year, if another owner/GM decides that he is worthy of being their next HC.
