Game 10: Lions @ Bears Thread

lol didn't we already beat the vikings in minnesota? I understand that doesn't mean anything going into thanksgiving. Also the vikings beat the bears in chicago by 3 points as well? Did I miss something?

Exactly bro!!! Sports media in Detroit is beyond disgusting. I guess you're supposed to win games by 4 TDs to convince anyone that you're a decent team. That article made me sick.

I agree, KC! Such a sad sack city when it comes to sports. Even the guys on 97.1 picked the Bears to win this game lol. Dully was the only guy who picked the Lions. It's so fucked up lol.

I think they pick with the spread, right? Weren't the Lions a 3 point fav?

Why, because you say so? This is the NFL, bud. Any given Sunday. Bears play tough at home. They beat the Steelers at home too. A win is a motherfucking win. Take it, learn from some of the mistakes and move the fuck on to the Vikings. Quit bitching ffs......

Giants just beat the Chiefs....the same Giants team that got stomped by the winless 49ers the week before.

Any given Sunday. A road win in the NFL is never a bad W.

Well I think the sports talk radio guys are the real fucktards, at least most of them, at least one at every site tries to be controversial so they will get callers, then they will cut the caller off like the fuckheads on talk sports here in boston.
You know talk over the caller, after waiting for an hour to get on the air.
I haven't listened to any of the shitheads here for maybe 20 years, and the same assholes aredoing the same routine about the sports teams.

3-0 in the div all on the road

Hasn't happened since '61. ( Think about that for second, we haven't won all division Road games since Roger Marris hit 61 home runs ) Now, our history has been terrible from '57 on.....but that's not bad. Have to take care of business Thursday......would be such a big W not only in terms of playoffs, but it's like gaining 1.5 games in the division standings as we'd have the tiebreaker with Minnesota in hand.

Big game. Hope everyone came out of today healthy and we're ready to play Thursday.

Lions are slowly closing the gap on the division rivalries

24 game behind Chicago
29 games behind GB
32 games behind Minnesota

The 00s really put the Lions in a big(ger) hole

Not a bad W. But back to back close games vs shitty teams..... they definitely aren't good wins either. They are just wins.

Three Detroit Lions questions: Team won't beat Vikings, win NFC North.
Mr.NegativefromtheFreep

Other than the snarky love boat comments, the article is spot on.

What does this win mean for the Lions?

It means the Minnesota Vikings, who improved to 8-2 after putting a 24-7 beating on the L.A. Rams, are coming to Ford Field on Thursday and they?re going to beat the Lions and win the NFC North. Sorry, but the Lions did nothing to convince me they?re a good team by barely beating the now-3-7 Bears, who repeatedly made bad plays and whose coach is about to be fired. And I don?t want to hear any jibber jabber about the Lions going 3-0 in division road games and how it?s tough to win at Soldier Field. They fell behind early, managed just two field goals in the second half and were lucky the Bears kept shooting themselves in the foot ? which is probably what every Bears fan wants to do to Connor Barth after he nearly kicked the tying 46-yard field goal attempt onto Michigan Avenue.

Do the Lions deserve credit for winning in tough conditions against a rival?

Sure, a little. But just a little, because this is one of the worst Bears teams in a while. Mostly, this game was an indictment of the Lions? maddening inconsistency. The offense starts terribly, then it looks great with two quick touchdowns, then it looks bad again. And all this was happening as the Bears were losing defensive players like Leonard Floyd, Eddie Goldman and Kyle Fuller late in the game. The defense played well but struggled a little too much against a rookie quarterback. Credit to D.J. Hayden for his scoop-and-score, but where have all those magical turnovers gone that were happening so often early in the season? It feels like the well has run dry at the wrong time.

What must the Lions do to beat the Vikings on Thanksgiving?

They can hope the Love Boat is still running charters on Lake Minnetonka in order to distract Vikings players this week. Aside from something crazy happening, like lots of wild turnovers or a major injury, the Vikings should cruise to victory. Their defense on Sunday held the red-hot Rams to seven points. L.A. had won four straight and had outscored their past three opponents, 117-24. And the Vikings are even red-hotter, winning six straight while allowing more than 17 points just once in their past eight games. Quarterback Case Keenum is playing well, running back Latavius Murray is running well and Adam Thielen is catching well. Seriously, how much can 53 charter tickets on the Love Boat cost? It might be a wise investment for the Lions to send their NFC North buddies an early Christmas present.

Everyone is just so beat up from 60 years of disappointment that no one can ever wrap their head around not eventually being disappointed. I don't live in Michigan any more and was just telling someone at work that if the Lions were 10-0 right now all the talk in Detroit would be how we're going to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

I haven't see anything on it but we had to have set or tied a record by allowing teams to rush for 200+ yards on consecutive weeks and we actually won both games???
