This is a reasonable approach and a reasonable question to ask.

It's something to keep in mind, but in the meantime, as a healthy and productive member of society, I have to make 100 decisions a day weighing risk against the harm done by not participating in the economy and in other activities that are important for society. I agree that the media is a problem and we shouldn't react with fear, but it's also not helpful to say that we



are ?in slavery through their fear of death.?

Will we ever be allowed to sing, shout or cheer in public again?

Will those who go about living life normally always be shamed and called selfish and irresponsible?

This alarmism is no better than the media, and I believe it has the effect of motivating people to act in ways that prolong this pandemic and risk health.

Why would it be any other way? When people start dropping dead, you don't study for years, get everything right, and then act. You do the best you can with the information you have. I really don't see why people keep raising this point (it is all over facebook). If we can prove that asymptomatic carriers aren't spreaders, that will be fantastic. But it's tough to prove and the media is very guilty of confirmation bias. There are tons of research efforts going on, subject to random probability. That sounds like a great test. I hadn't heard of it, but when I googled, it sounds like this test they rolled out in Australia at the end of March.

I was under the impression that the blood test (finger prick) test was just an antibody test to see if you have had it / have antibodies. I couldn't find a single source that says a finger prick can detect if you currently have it.

To my knowledge, the only way to find out if you currently have it is with a nose swab, throat swab or test your saliva.

Just look at the whole 4th paragraph:

He never elaborates on what the "precendent" here is.

We still don't fully understand COVID-19 and its effects on the body, and have a lot of uncertainty around mortality rates, and what causes some people to have more severe reactions to it than others. And we knew even less in February/March when we still had a chance to contain it.

When you're facing uncertain & unknown risks, the proper thing to do is to be overly cautious, not to gamble and assume it will just work out for the best. Being cautious is not fear, it's how intelligent people conduct themselves.

He's just pissy because people are - PRUDENTLY - not engaging in one of the riskier activities to do during a pandemic: going to Church on Sunday. (And probably worse from his perspective, not putting $$$ in the collection baskets...)

Not sure this is in the category of "bad behavior" unless it is established that there was intent, or the guy was alcohol-tanked out of cognitive function and on some other medication.

Or, the meds didn't actually affect him. If he's lying about that, then that's the bad behavior to cite.

However, I submit that people who claim to be Christian and are "behaving badly" are actually most of us to some or greater degree. Some of us are aware of our sinfulness and are intent on striving to be more holy and virtuous. It's a life-long pursuit. Others are indeed "vipers." Others are simply self-righteous. Still others are blind to their indiscretion. St. Paul's brief letter to the Ephesians explains this clearly.
