Heinsohn was connected to the Celtics for 64 years as a player, coach and broadcaster. Almost as many years with the same team as Kaline.

Mitch, Those players from the 50's and 60's who wore their hair with that crew cut like Heinsohn were tough SOB's, I remember him going toe to toe with f'n Wilt Chamberlain who was 7'2" and 280. Tommy was 6'8" and 240.

He had some brutal fights with Wayne Embry later a Celtic, Clyde Lovellette later a Celtic and Rudy LaRusso just to name a few.

When The rookies came to the Celtics, Red Auerbach would always yell at Heinsohn and the rooks would look and think that if red is yelling at an all-star we better not mess up, Red was the master psychologist. Heinsohn knew what Red was doing and he later used that on rookies when he coached the C's.

He was with the Celtics almost as Long in different capacities 64 years, as Our Hero Kaline 67 years.

Its the first thing I thought of this morning, Mr. Kaline. To the Celtic fans they are at a loss like us Tigers fans about Mr. Tiger. Double for you.
