Former Lions All-Pro linebacker Mike Cofer dies at age 58.

Cofer was taken by the Lions in third round (67th overall) out of Tennessee in the 1983 NFL Draft. He played in 123 games, starting in 104 over 10 seasons with Detroit where he registered 62.5 sacks. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1988 after recovering two fumbles and posting 12 sacks in 16 games.

We continue our countdown with the top 5 receivers in terms of hauling in contested catches ? starting with the tie at 4th between Kenny Golladay.
The #Lions WR Kenny Golladay (@kgxix) broke out in 2018, big plays became a regular occurrence for him. He was tied for fourth in the NFL among WRs with 30 contested targets and 17 contested receptions. I think #Lions fans can expect plenty more from him in the future.

Can the Lions find someone to replace the void left last year by Golden Tate and his ridiculous after-the-catch ability?
WR Golden Tate broke 20+ tackles after the catch every year since 2012, leading to an incredible 6.4 yards after catch per reception for his CAREER. The #Lions will have trouble finding another WR that can do that after the catch.

The Lions might have found another option to start at corner as they have signed Rashaan Melvin to a one-year deal according to Adam Schefter. Melvin, who was with Oakland last year, played with New England in 2015.

Lions signed CB Rashaan Melvin to a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
An outside corner with size, Melvin was miscast in Oakland's Cover-2 last year. He made just seven starts and wasn't effective for the 59 percent of snaps he was on the field. Melvin is a better fit in Detroit's multiple scheme — he played under Matt Patricia with the Patriots in 2015. With Nevin Lawson gone, this gives the Lions a veteran fallback opposite Darius Slay.

Free agent Al Woods visited the Lions.
Woods had a scaled back role last year after being a 16-game starter for the Colts in 2017. He graded above average as a run stopper at PFF over 375 snaps. The Lions are expected to keep the same scheme under new DC Paul Pasqualoni, but a nose tackle like Woods would allow them to stay multiple.

2017: 66.7 overall, 67.4 run defense, 60.7 pass rush, 64.2 tackling
2018: 89.9 overall, 91.5 run defense, 65.8 pass rush, 62.6 tackling
Robinson's 2018 also included three Elite game grades (WK 7, WK 8, WK 13)
