Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Lions inactives: LB Paul Worrilow, WR Kenny Golladay, RB Tion Green, RB Dwayne Washington, OL T.J. Lang, DE Cornelius Washington, DT Datone Jones.

T.J. Lang being inactive is an issue for the Lions. Means Tim Lelito might be getting the start at RG but won't know for sure until warmups.

From a fantasy perspective, I would be more concerned about Ameer Abdullah's production with T.J. Lang out. Could see more Zach Zenner work, too, because of pass protection.

Emmett Cleary is getting starting RG snaps in place of T.J. Lang.
Lang is inactive with back issues.

Second straight week Matthew Stafford has lost a fumble. This one more costly as it comes in the end zone.

Golden Tate broke two tackles with spin moves, flipped himself into the end zone on purpose. The key to that play was Zach Zenner. Had a good pickup in pass protection to keep Matthew Stafford with a clean pocket to find Tate for the 45-yard score.

With that touchdown pass, Matthew Stafford now has 197 in his career. Ties him with Ken Anderson for No. 42 all-time. Pushed him past Steve DeBerg, Joe Ferguson, Norm Snead and former Lions quarterback Bobby Layne.

Really poor tackling from the Saints defense on the Golden Tate catch and run for a TD. Use the sideline as your help, create some angles and get the ball carrier on the ground.

Ted Ginn TD catch. Underneath crossing route from a bunch alignment. Create some traffic and give Ginn a clean release. Tough for the DB to recover in that situation.

By my count, the Lions ran shotgun or pistol formations for Matthew Stafford every snap of the first quarter. He's been dealing with hamstring and ankle injuries. This will like be the M.O. all day.

Matthew Stafford has lost two fumbles in a game for the second time in his career. Last time was Dec. 30, 2012 against Chicago. Stafford has been struggling in all facets of his game, too.

Carrying over from Detroit's woeful offensive performance against Carolina, the Lions have struggled all over the place. Every offensive snap has come out of shotgun or the pistol, likely due to Matthew Stafford's ankle and hamstring injuries. He has also struggled with ball security, losing two fumbles.
The defense has been unable to pressure or even hit Drew Brees -- the type of issues that were concerns about the Lions entering the season. Defensively, the Lions have played nickel (with either three safeties or traditional with Quandre Diggs) and a couple of snaps of what appeared to be dime.
Nothing has gone right for Detroit in terms of stopping the Saints.

Glover Quin heading straight to the locker room after being injured on the last play. When he finally got up, multiple Lions players went over to check on him. He is the defense's emotional leader.
Glover Quin is OUT. He's being evaluated for a concussion.

And now Golden Tate is down on the field for the Lions. He's walking off slowly.
Golden Tate has a shoulder injury. Return is questionable.

And Greg Robinson just got carted off the Lions sideline into the locker room. Detroit should be thankful it has a bye week next week.

Jamal Agnew first Lions rookie since Jack Christiansen in 1951 to have two punt returns for touchdowns.
