Frankie Rodriguez was hurt after WBC game
Francisco Rodriguez went down in a heap late in the Venezuela/Italy game. Didn't look good. Would be a major hole for Tigers if he's out.

With Team Israel?s WBC success in mind, let?s take time to acknowledge the greatest Jewish player of all time: Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame first baseman Hank Greenberg.

From 1933-1940, Greenberg slashed .326/.418/.625, led the American League in home runs three times, and was twice named MVP.
He then spent all but one month of 1941, and the entirety of the 1942, 1943, and 1944 seasons, in military service during World War II.
Greenberg returned to play three more years before retiring with a 158 adjusted OPS, which ranks 16th best all-time.

March 12 in Tigers and mlb history:

1921 - Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis suspends eight members of the Chicago White Sox for their alleged involvement in the fixing of the 1919 World Series. The group includes outfielder Joe Jackson, who batted .375 in the Series. Others banned are Eddie Cicotte, Happy Felsch, Chick Gandil, Fred McMullin, Swede Risberg, Buck Weaver and Lefty Williams. None of them will ever play in organized baseball again.

1951 - Commissioner Happy Chandler loses his bid to remain in office. Chandler is voted down, 9-7, in a tally of owners. Chandler, who started his term as commissioner in 1945, will be succeeded by Ford Frick.

1980 - Slugging outfielder Chuck Klein and former Boston Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey are elected to the Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee.

While it?s still early in camp, the results from right-hander Anibal Sanchez haven?t been encouraging.
Sanchez, along with expensive veterans Mike Pelfrey and Mark Lowe, have all been knocked around thus far, and it?s difficult to imagine a team with postseason aspirations breaking camp with all three on the roster.
Sanchez, who has allowed 11 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings, is owed $16MM this coming season plus a $5MM buyout on his 2018 option.
Pelfrey?s struggles have been similar (eight runs in six frames), and he?s set to earn $8MM in the second season of a two-year deal.
Lowe is set to earn $5.5MM and has surrendered three runs in his 3 2/3 innings, albeit with a more encouraging 5-to-1 K/BB ratio.
Obviously any spring stats ? especially those accumulated through March 10 ? should be taken with a large grain of salt, but none of that trio performed well in 2016, either.
