Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

June 27 in Tigers and mlb history:

1922: Detroit Stars pitcher Bill Force no-hits the St. Louis Giants 3 - 0, at Mack Park in a Negro National League game.

1940: Bobo Newsom (10-1) wins his 10th in a row as the 2nd place Tigers whip St. Louis 2 - 1. Detroit manages just three hits, but two are homers by Hank Greenberg and Charlie Gehringer.

1956: The Detroit Tigers signed Don Lee as an amateur free agent.

1963: Detroit's Norm Cash achieves a rarity by playing an entire game at 1B without a chance, as the Twins win.

1967: Al Kaline breaks his hand as he slams his bat into the bat rack after being struck out by Sam McDowell as the 2nd-place Tigers lose to Cleveland, 8 - 1. The future Hall of Famer will miss 28 games.

1972: Mickey Lolich is staked to a 4 - 0 lead when the Tigers hit three consecutive 1st-inning home runs against New York's Wade Blasingame, making his American League debut.
Tony Taylor leads off with a walk before Aurelio Rodriguez, Al Kaline and Willie Horton slug homers to finish Blasingame.
Lolich, pitching on two days' rest, notches his 12th win, 5 - 2.

1987: Darrell Evans slugs a two-run home run in the 1st inning off Mike Boddicker for his 2,000th career hit, but his Tigers lose to Baltimore, 4 - 2.

1999: The Seattle Mariners traded players to be named later to the Detroit Tigers for Brian Hunter. The Seattle Mariners sent Andy Van Hekken (June 27, 1999) and Jerry Amador (minors) (August 26, 1999) to the Detroit Tigers to complete the trade.

2015: The Detroit Tigers signed Alberto Gonzalez as a free agent.

Notable:
Verlander had a perfect game heading into the sixth inning in his last start against Seattle but still earned a no-decision. He has not won since May 20 – a span of six starts.
Verlander has more wins against the Royals than any other major-league team. He is 22-10 with a 3.18 ERA in 42 career starts.

Five Royals have 55 or more career at-bats against Verlander: Alex Gordon .202 (18 for 89, 3 HRs), Eric Hosmer .263 (21 for 80, 2 HRs), Alcides Escobar .203 (16 for 79), Mike Moustakas .183 (11 for 60, 1 HR), Salvador Perez .418 (23 for 55, 2 HRs).

Strahm was moved from the bullpen to the Royals’ starting rotation on June 15. He has made two starts, allowing six runs – five earned – in eight innings.
Strahm is 2012 21st-round draft pick of the Royals. He has allowed one earned run in 5 1/3 career innings against Detroit.

The Royals have won 12 of their past 15 to get back in the AL playoff race. Outfielder Lorenzo Cain has been their hottest hitter with a .356 average, four home runs and seven RBIs the past 12 games.

In fact, according to Baseball Savant, a site dedicated to advanced baseball statistics, the Tigers do not have a single player ranked within the top 49 players in the league in terms of ?sprint speed? as shortstop Jose Iglesias is tied for 50th. Iglesias has a sprint speed of 28.2 feet/second, which is well-above the league average of 27.0.

Pretty pathetic...our fastest player is below league average. I would have to guess that the Tigers are the slowest team in the league.
