not a single team on the Tiger schedule with a record above .500 after this series. Just .500 = 87 wins for Tigs now.

Three controversial decisions made by Tigers manager Jim Leyland lately that have proven to be correct.

1. Not starting Justin Verlander Sunday vs. the Indians (Tigers won both Sunday and Monday, when Verlander started at Tampa Bay).

2. Putting Brandon Inge in the starting lineup vs. left-handed pitching. (The Tigers have won both games Inge has started since returning from Toledo).

3. Using Jose Valverde in a non-save situation Monday, which kept him from being used Tuesday. (Tigers won both games).

Alex Avila now has an OPS+ of 154 which would be the best for any Tigers catcher ever if he keeps it up.

Tigers are 15-8 on the road since July 6 -- the .652 winning percentage is second in the AL during that span.

The Tigers' record on days that Verlander has pitched: 20-8. Other days: .500. If voting were today, I'd pick Verlander for MVP. olney

Tigers are 9-5 since the Dombrowski and Leyland extensions.

Where did you get this from?

Very faulty logic for #2 and 3.

I think he's just saying that most people questioned the moves but the end results were w's.
