He has a point. I was a little young to know what was going on in the underground alternative world in 1990, but if Doolittle was still a big part of it after being released in 89 there's no reason it couldn't be considered 90's rock.

No I'd say it's more in line with late 80s alternative/shoegazine genre that them, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and to some extent REM was responsible for.. I guess it's relevant because it certainly influenced grunge acts like Nirvana and Mudhoney etc..

The Doolittle album sounds a lot like weezer to me. Strike that, Reverse it. Weezer sounds a lot like The Pixies..
