Spring Training cancelled; Opening Day delayed -season starts July 24 for 60 Games

but no ceremony sucks. They will just get a diploma in the mail.

I was going to take him and some of his friends to FL for spring break, which was also cancelled. It's not what he had planned for what was supposed to be the best 2 months of his high school career.

It is very sad that most (if not all) HS seniors will miss out on traditional graduation ceremonies.

Hopefully some areas of the US will have the spread of the virus under complete control and will actually have outdoor ceremonies.

This pandemic has become something that virtually nobody was prepared for.

MLB, MLBPA agree on stipulations for return of 2020 season.

Major League Baseball and the Major League Players Association reached an agreement on key economic issues in hopes of salvaging the majority of the 162-game season, even if it means playing the World Series in late November.

Major League Baseball owners voted unanimously to ratify the union agreement on Friday.

The deal includes a commitment from MLB and the players to play as close to a full regular-season schedule as possible, with games in October and a postseason in November, providing the COVID-19 crisis dissipates and permits them to even start a season.

The two sides would like to play at least 100 games, with the hopes of playing as many as possible, scheduling regular-season games through October and including weekly doubleheaders. They have also discussed the idea of expanding the current playoff format to help offset the loss of income, while acknowledging that if cold weather becomes an issue in November, they could move the World Series and playoff series from cold-weather cities to a neutral site.

THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Saturday Survey offers another way for readers to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our baseball-lovin? peeps.

As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons ( 4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

MLB is discussing the best way to address all the games they will miss due to this year?s still-undetermined late start to the season. Please participate in the poll in order to share where you stand on how MLB should proceed.

In your opinion what is the single best decision they should make?

1. Keep the same schedule and only play the games still on the calendar.

2. Increase the number of double-headers played.

3. Eliminate the All-Star game, including the one-week break.

4. Extend the season/playoffs w/normal locations.

5. Extend the season/playoffs w/neutral, warmer locations.

6. Not sure.

7. Other.

My "Other" vote would be for MLB to publicly announce the obvious ..that games will not be played until a vaccine for CoVid-19 is discovered & approved and every citizen has effectively been inoculated.

Because even if suggested playing in empty stadiums ..highly doubtful players (via MLBPA) would agree to play until that happens.

2020 is a lost cause for baseball. Best scenario I've seen so far is 8-10 months. And there is no guarantee they will find a cure in that time.

OPEN MIKE!
Totally Tigers

This is the day for you to be heard. Today is the one day during the month (normally) where you get the opportunity to comment on the Tiger topic of your choosing.

This is the one day of the week where we open up the comment parameters for you, so you can really get those juices flowing. Comments on THIS DAY ONLY can be expanded to a maximum of 8 sentences. So pick a topic and let us hear from you! What?s on your minds?

Now that MLB is on hold, we are mixing it up a little bit. Three new interactive blogs that allow you, dear readers, to have more input. Which means, we need your ideas and questions for several of them.

1. Send us your questions that you?d like to see addressed about baseball and we?ll pick at least 2 each week to answer.

2. What questions do you have specifically for Kurt and Holly? They can be on anything (nothing political or religious though) so you can get a more complete picture about baseball?s infamous (mostly) odd couple.

Sad .. but true. Might as well face the stark reality of it ..and then be overjoyed if they somehow get a third of the season in.

Bigger issue is the overall economy .. will still be breathing freely by Independence Day.
