Late night games for the eastern time zone folks…4 games series with three 10:05 start times and one at 8 pm on Sunday night baseball. Both teams currently sit in 3rd place in their divisions.
Since the start of the 2011 season the Tigers are 2-11 in Angel Stadium. Since 2002 they are 15-41.
The Tigers get to miss another ace in this series. They avoided Keuchel (Houston), Gray (Oakland) and now the will avoid Garrett Richards.
Farmer went 0-1 with a 15.63 ERA in two August starts before allowing one run in three innings in two relief appearances in September. He's 5-1 (9 starts), a 2.98 era and 50 strike outs over 50 1/3 innings for Triple A Toledo.
Wilson has gone 10-2 with a 3.56 ERA in his last 18 home starts. He is also 2-2 with a 2.23 ERA in 7 night games this season. Opponents are hitting .203 against him at night.
Current members of the Tigers are hitting a combined. 298 with an .881 OPS in 114 at-bats against Wilson. Cespedes is 6-18 with 4 walks, Kinsler is 8-21 with a .714 slg pct, Rajai is 8-26 and Miggy is 6-20 with 5 strike outs. Miggy does have 7 home runs in Angel Stadium, his most in any AL West stadium.
Trout is 2 for his last 22 in his last 6 meetings against Detroit. Pujols has hit 8 homers against the Tigers, his 2nd most against an AL Central team (19 against KC).
Shortstop Jose Iglesias remains day to day with a bruised knee. He was out of the starting lineup a third straight day, though he has been available to pinch hit. "It was still swollen, I saw it yesterday," Ausmus said. "He did take batting practice and was able to take groundballs right at him. The only time it bothers him is when he's running. When he thinks he can play, he'll play."
The forecast tonight calls for temperatures around 70 degrees. There is a slight chance of rain this evening with those possibilities increasing late tonight.
