The Tigers are 2nd in the AL in BA with RISP and are one of the better teams in getting runners home with runners on 3B and less than 2 outs.

The only teams with losing records that they have below 500 records against are Cleveland and Seattle. Despite the sweep, they're still 7-4 against Kansas City.

Just an FYI, here is the pitch Boesch swung at in the first. It was waist high and over the outer half of the plate. It was a good pitch for Boesch to hit.

Just checking some of the top teams in the AL and the Tigers are pretty much right their with runner on 3 less than 2 outs. The Yankees have 36 sacrifice flies to Detroit's 32, but have a lower average and fewer runs scored in relation to PA. Chicago has 30 sacrifice flies but is batting 425...

To be fair that was great play on the last out. If that gets through the game is likely tied.

If the game becomes tied you have Fielder out of the game.

It's hard to blame Avila when the pitchers aren't giving him a chance.

Lillibridge runs too well. His only play would've been to stay on his feet.

Kansas City was 17-11 in August and swept the White Sox as well. Kansas City is playing good baseball.

So the only pitch in this AB that was a strike was the first pitch and Cabrera got himself out by passing on that pitch and going out of the strike zone. The best pitch he saw was the first pitch. Should've swung.

What difference does it make if he hits a double play on the 6th pitch vs the 1st? Boesch isn't exactly young. He's 27 and in his 3rd season. Taking a fastball for the sake of taking the first pitch doesn't make sense. Why automatically put yourself down 0-1?

Tigers vs. indians Game Thread Sept. 3

So no matter what, Boesch shouldn't swing at the first pitch and be down 0-1 in the count? Boesch has long arms and can extend over the plate an drive the ball. Perhaps since the bases were loaded Boesch knew he was going to get a first pitch fastball.

At least Avila took some pitches on his double play.

Damnit, Peralta and his first pitch swinging.

Hamilton swings at more first pitches than Boesch. Not sure your point.
