1-Austin Jackson CF
2-Andy Dirks LF
3-Miguel Cabrera 3B
4- Prince Fielder 1B
5-Victor Martinez DH
6-Alex Avila C
7-Nick Castellanos RF
8-Jhonny Peralta SS
9-Omar Infante 2B

All potentially better then league average hitting at their position

Would hope we don't go into the season with Dirks and Castellanos as our starting OFers.

It's a safe bet that the Tigers exercise the option on Peralta. Yes? Question for the field.

No on Castellanos..I think he needs some time.

He might but then again he might not. Even at his young age and relative in-experience I think if he plays a full season with the Tigers next year he can be better than Boesch or Young.

I wouldn't mind seeing Peralta gone for a better defender, but it really depends on the market there. I also wouldn't mind seeing one of the corner OF spots upgraded, but again, it depends on the market.

I'm hoping we add another legit starter though.

I agree with both of those statements. They should also be looking for another closer.

Maybe, or he could be a strike out machine with a low OBP and have his confidence killed. I'd like to see him play the season in AAA and be a late call up next year if he's still raking.

Agreed. I wouldn't be totally opposed to an internal option for closer either. We've got Benoit, Dotel, Villareal, Rondon, Al Al, etc. who could probably swing it. It sure would be nice to get a lockdown guy though.

I hope they go external...I like Benoit as an 8th inning guy, Dotel struggled as a closer before i think and ain't getting any younger, Not sure itrust Villareal to be a closer, Rondon possibly but he's never pitched an MLB inning and AL is a walk machine which is death to a closer. Not sure whats out there but I hope theres something.

The 6-spot FA market looks really lean. We're talking Adam Everett.

pretty awesome, thou I'd like to see Castellanos play 1st.

???? So what are you going to do with Victor? And you also want to piss off Prince in his 2nd year of his contract? He signed with the Tigers to play 1st base, then you're going to replace him with a Rookie whose never played first? Pretty horrible comment.

I was thinking the same thing, but I checked out the potential free agents and that list is bare. Tigers would be better of getting a corner outfielder.

lol

I had the same thought at first, but re-reading his comment, I think he just meant to say that he would like to see Castellanos play, and wasn't talking about the position.

At least, I hope that's what he meant, otherwise he made another post in contention for dumbest of the year.

That could be the best 3-4-5 combo ever assembled on one team. Hopefully everyone stays healthy. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

Is Castellanos even going to be called up this September? I thought the plan for him was to play with the big club in 2014.

ahhhhhhhh ok I get it now..I just ignored it because I figured if he really meant that it wasn't worth the time. Lol

i think its way too early to be speculating on the lineup, mostly because im hoping we get 2 corner outfielders. in any case, i would hit victor 2nd and not 5th. he's an on-base machine with not a ton of home-run power at this point in his career, 2nd would be the perfect spot for him.
