2019 Season prediction thread

I believe they will be better at first, DH and lf by miles.

Stewart and a healthy Cabrera should be a improvement, you got me. However, it would be a push at DH, or a slight improvement, IMHO.

2018 AL Offensive OPS Rankings

C = 12th (doubt we improve)

1B = 7th (slight improvement)

2B = 15th (slight improvement)

SS = 13th (same)

3B = 11th (same)

LF = 15th (should be a big improvement)

CF = 13th (might drop here without Martin)

RF = 2nd (same or drop, no way we beat BOS)

DH = 15th (improvement but not by much)

This team has been weak for years against RH pitching. Aside from Stewart, and a healthy Cabrera, we absolutely did not improve against RH.

With approximately 75% of games against RH starters, this team will struggle in those games, especially on the road. There is no clear DH choice that hits RHP better than Victor. And, because the rest of the team clobbers LHP, any DH that hits LH pitching would just be gravy in the lineup and not account for much change.

I fully expect the Tigers to suck again. I think they finish with a few more wins than the past 2 seasons.

67-95

I think they start off decent but fall back. Hopefully they can trade off a few players, most importantly Nick...but I doubt they get much in return. I think Miggy will post decent numbers but will probably end up on the DL again. He will probably hit around .290-.300 but his HR numbers will disappoint...20-25 tops.

I think the Twins surprise and take the division with the Indians taking a step back.

Twins
Tribe
Sox

KC

looks like I was a little overly optimistic on the team's success and for what Miggy would do. He will be lucky to hit 15

You were probably the best of the ones who did predict.

Before the season I didn't think Miggy would hit 20. After 3-4 weeks I changed it to 10. He does have one good thing this season hits well with RISP.

I think we will do a little better.

77-85.

Miggy will stay healthy for 150+ games. The pitching staff will be better than we expected. Gardy will get the most out of the younger players.

Indians
Sox
Tigers
Twins
KC

As long as the Tigers finish with a 31-3 run, I nailed it. :cheers::cheers::cheers:

There is 44 games left, so it would be 31-13.

For me to nail it, they just need to go 24-20.

And right now, I am the closet prediction to what they will finish.

I would actually need them to go 41-3. It could happen...:hehe::hehe::hehe:

Winner on the Twins

Hang in there Cab rare a hit # 11 today. the rest of this game and two more; it only takes a great effort to get to 15 now!!

Miggy got to 12 which is tied for 211st in MLB...current salary, $30M which is 7th

This team was total garbage. From Miggy down to Josh Harrison. Every pitcher and reliever was trash with the exception of Boyd. Believe it or not, he was top 10 in the AL in Whip and top 20 in ERA.

Two of the Astros top 3 pitchers will be free agents next year (Cole & Miley). I wonder if they would be interested in Boyd. A pretty cheap guy to fill out the #3 or #4 spot in the rotation. With their analytics and coaching he could turn into a Cy Young winner.

Only 22 qualified. So top 20, really?

There were 51x AL Starters with at least 100 IP, Boyd was 33rd in ERA. He was 45th in HR/9.

Of the 83 that "qualified", Cabrera finished t5th in BAVG with Runners on Base. If you expand to 150 PAs (122), he finished t6th. Does that mean anything? FYI...he finished 2nd with Runners in Scoring Position. The issue, nobody was getting onbase in front of him or getting in scoring position. Yes, that also means he wasn't hitting with the bases empty, but pitchers didn't have to give him anything to hit, because nobody hitting behind him was going to hurt them.

I guess I didn't realize that so few qualified. It looks like Boyd sucked too.

Everybody sucked.

Will not be surprise, as I have mention that Boyd could be traded in the off season. Houston would be a good fit as JV would be there, and there coaching helped JV, why not Boyd.

Miggy surprisingly hits well vs LHP, .971 OPS. Only 111 PA but still. Hit much better at home. Take out July and June to the end of the season he hit well. Leading off an inning, .821 OPS. Where there were zero outs in an inning he batted .337.

His biggest problem not hitting to the OF enough. When he did he was fantastic but he hit way to many ground balls. Not sure his "Trying to lose weight in off-season" will work over surgery though. In any event I can't blame him its not uncommon for an older player to diminish some, the Tigers gave him the contract.

I think most right handed hitters hit LH pitchers better.

The entire team hit LH pitching better.
.714 OPS, .310 OBP vs LH pitchers
.673 OPS .289 OBP vs RH pitchers

Not all but .971 is not .714. But my post was just to point out the positives from Miggy.

gotcha

not a lot of positives to point out. He has really regressed. It's going to be a long 4 years watching him play shitty and have the team pay him $132M
