99 Cool Facts About Babe Ruth

Most interesting to me was that Ruth refused to play defense in the sunny areas of every ballpark's OF after losing a flyball in the sunlight, and of course was quickly accommodated by his Yankees teams for the rest of his career..hmm...well...at least he never complained or refused to bat especially when/if the sun put the pitchers' mound in shadow.

20. In Game 2 of the 1916 World Series, Ruth pitched 14-inning complete game to beat the Dodgers 2-1.

They were the Brooklyn Robins in 1916, named for their manager, Wilbert Robinson. It would be 15 seasons before they adopted the name Dodgers.

That was the one that I was going to post when I was reading the list...he refused to ever play in the sun field again.

In 1932, Foxx enjoyed his best season when he hit 58 home runs. That was a record for right handed hitters at the time although Ruth had the overall record with 60 homers in 1927. The most interesting statistic for Foxx's 1932 season, wasn't how many homers he hit, but how many he lost. Two home runs were taken away because of rain.
