I understand starting your QB out with a couple easy throws early in the game to get him rolling. Last week late in the game play calling and bad routes called makes absolutely no sense. What happened to the vertical Linehan offense from Minnesota with Culpepper and Moss? Common sense would say a young CJ running 9s, Burleson intermediate and Scheffler and Grew in the seam would be explosive... Is it lack of faith in the Oline? 3 step drops to keep Stafford alive would make sense but other than that it seams like hes being very restricting.

You can't run routes down the field when they have no protection.

He's very bipolar with the offense...

Some games he has a good to great plan for offense... but other games their TERRIBLE.

i hear that, i also have the same reservations about linehan's schemes from time to time, but never like last game....here's the deal, we currently, i say, CURRENTLY have the best player in the nfl on our football team, that's right now. we all know who he is, there's no need to name people here. sometimes i just look at the offense struggle and wonder why......why can't we just throw the ball up to him? DAMMIT WHY?! so what if there's 2, 3, 4, 5 defenders around him, just throw the damned ball up because there's this crazy chance he could come down with it! ball distribution be damned.....THROW THE FUCKING BALL TO HIM IN THE RED ZONE AND WE WIN.....for fuck's sake it worked the 5 previous weeks....

Or some defenses game plan better than others.

I would love to see one of you guys run this offense. Linehan knows what he is doing and he is making the right calls. Its up to the players to come through on these plays, and that def didnt happen sunday.

Nope. I agree Linehan had a horrific playcalling game. Awful.

Protection wasn't as bad as the number indicate - go watch it again. Stafford would NOT step into the pocket, and it wasn't because of pressure up the middle either. He just kept drifting back, and drifting back and chucking balls off his back-foot - and when you drift back like that, you don't do your Tackles any favors.

Now, did Gos and Backus get out-played? Yeah, I think so. But Stafford didn't do them any favors, either...

Going for a throat why your ahead is a good thing... We seem to passive when we have leads the last two weeks verses the Bears and 49ers.. But i for on would recome a rematch in the playoffs if we can get there with the 49ers. I just don't think Smith is that good... His coming back to earth moment will happen sooner or later.

Wheres he suppose to step up to? When Backus gets burnt. There's no where to go. There was 4-5 plays where Backus was on the ground and barely got a hand on Smith. What's stepping up in the pocket gonna do save 2 yards? Does he need to step up more? Yes. Can he rely on that all year? No way. Not with Raiola and Peterman in front of him. Of course the kid throws off his back foot always. He has no trust in his LT. Hows he suppose to know when he is gonna get hit from his blindside? Watch the replay on the NFL Network in 15 minutes. Watch the Offensive line every play. You will realize that the stats don't even show how truly bad it is.

5 sacks , 10 hits and still No run game...ya the offensive line is doing a bang up job.....lol

Alls I'm saying is that Justin Smith brought a lot of pressure by beating Backus on his outside shoulder most of the game. The 9'ers didn't bring extra guys up the middle all that often, and stepping up would have, on some of those downs, helped out Backus and Gos.

Instead he just kept drifting back and chucking balls off his back foot.

Now Backus and Gos got beat like drums the whole game. No denying that. And Matt knows better than any of us that Raiola is horrific. But there were several times during the game where if he would have stepped into the pocket, he would have set up Backus and Gos' blocks and potentially given his receivers an extra couple seconds to do something.

That's all I'm saying.
