A question for Michiganders

I live in the south now so I really don't know. How bad is the bandwagon situation up there? The same as the Tigers bandwagon in 06?

The situation with bandwagon fans in '06 wasn't bad at all. Nor is it with the Lions. You must not realize that fans of both teams have been around forever. And you must also think, if a team had a surprise year like the Tigers in '06 there must be a crap load of bandwagoners.

And I can't speak for the rest but maybe they have been more vocal in '06 but bandwagoners, nope.

They were Patriots fans.

The mostly non-existent "bandwagon" here in SE MI appears to have greatly shrunk, but that is, IMO, largely due to the US economy tanking soon afterward, which has hit our area of the country as hard, (and sooner) if not harder than most. Many Tigers fans apparently have left the state in search of a better life and employment since '06, with the "diehards" mostly remaining, either being unable to afford to leave, or disabled, or retired, or are on the government dole, and/or just able to show their support of the team "virtually" online, or by watching listening to the games, but much less, if not at all "physically" by their lack of attendance for games @ CoPa.

The average Lions fan "seems" to be better off economically/financially, not to mention the obviously much fewer amount of games available to attend @ Ford Field, making it more likely that attendance there will not be noticeably affected, and really wasn't even before the Lions teams began to improve, post the 0-16 '08 season.

Were you in Michigan at the time? If not well.. plus if I lived in Chicago during the 0-16 season and attended a bears game, not sure I'd throw up my arms and say "IM A LIONS FAN BITCHES". Lol.

It's nowhere near like the Tigers 06 run. For the Tigers it's like there were a million recluse Tigers fans that suddenly popped out from the wood work. Everyone and their mother was suddenly donning Tigers gear, and ever since it's been like that. I can't say I've seen a noticeable increase in honalulu blue and silver attire by the public.

Not easy for people to wear tigers gear when losing year after year. Just the way it is. Maybe I have a different definition of bandwagon than you guys do but I saw it as, finally its been a long time now to get my 1995 jersey out of the basement or out of hoc.

The lions butter is being spread everywhere... I go to jiffy lube and all the grease monkeys were talking about them; I go to work and my coworkers are talking about them; I wear a lions shirt downtown and get high fives...

just last year I was getting boos for the same thing...


The blue kool-aid is being gulped, not sipped...

My best friends Dad over the years has laugh at my Lions Jersey or Tigers jersey but still listens to or watches every game for years he's a huge huge fan. And getting high Fives and noticed because of your jersey tells me they realize the Lions are winning games but not necessarily huge Lions fans that you'll suddenly see at the corner bar or buying season tickets.
