Ehhh, I don't know. Not liking it. All the sudden, in the 9th game of the year, Denard is strictly a drop back passer? Pocket hardly moves, and you don't roll him out on any of those last 4 plays?

Totally thrilled with the choice to not give Denard a run/pass option from the fucking 3 yard line. Great fucking decision.

Oh and the refs just pocketed their flags on another pass interference.

I agree 100%. Why didn't they roll the pocket and at least give DR the chance to throw and/or the option to run it in (or run out of bounds) on the final drive. I guess they figured having 4-passing shots in the end zone was worth not trying to run DR for the would-be tying TD. Still, doesn't explain why they didn't roll the pocket the rest of the game. I dunno, I was not impressed with the O play-calling in this game. It's not Iowa's vaunted D, they don't have one this year (although I know the argument about how 'good' Iowa is at Kinnick - I was afraid of this game for this reason too). Another first, never lost 3-in-a-row to Iowa, ever.

This is a reality check and it puts us square in the cross-hairs again, that we can't beat even the mediocre B1G teams. I'm not a fatalist, just was drinking the cool-aid and was hoping for a good November finish - dammit.

Does everyone believe DR couldn't run against Iowa's D?

Yep, had 2 chances to run there. Could've run on first down before you call a timeout

and

could've set up a run on 4th down.

bad playcalling.

Calling all of those passes in the first half sucked too

It's almost like Denard has been told to not scramble. He never even looked like he had the thought of scrambling today when no one was open. It doesn't make any sense.

AND SINCE 'BUBBLE SCREEN' HAS FOR SOME REASON BECOME A BAD WORD AT MICHIGAN, WE REFUSE TO EVER RUN A SCREEN PLAY AGAINST AN AGGRESSIVE DEFENSE?

PISSING ME THE FUCK OFF!

Nope. It was the play calling. He was not given the chance to run. Coulda.

I think down the line there's the possibility that Brady Hoke is going to have to make a tough call with this guy. UM is an elite program that is already under Hoke's leadership getting elite recruits. I know it's early, but I've yet to see anything from Borges that shows he knows what the hell he's doing. We have no offensive identiy, no consistency in play calling, no idea how to run plays to set up future plays, and essentially, no "offense." The 4th down play action at MSU, the 4 calls today at the goaline, the constant in and out of Devin and Denard, the fact that nothing different has been run with Devin and Denard in the game all point in a concerning direction, that elite Michigan has an offensive mind that belongs at mid level San Diego State.

AND its NOT manball!!

Borges has been so sub=par this year... And i AGREE WHY THE HELL DOES ROBINSON NOT SCRAMBLE MORE!!!!!

I believe they are wanting to make Robinson a drop back QB. He is not and never will be, They need to decide what Offense they want to run and live with it. Why they went away from the run is beyond me, Robinson struggles throwing especially if you have taken away his scramble.

Last years Offensive numbers
2010: 32.8 ppg // 6.8 ypp

This years offensive numbers
32.7 ppg // 6.6 ypp

The offense is fine just needs some better execution

nice stats. Not really meaningful, but they're nice to look at, I guess.

Until you take into account that last year, the O racked up a bunch of stats against the weak competition it faced and then racked up a bunch of stats after getting down by 4td's in the other games and having their opponents let up on them...wait a minute...dumb stats...

1. DR has shown some dings throughout the year. None of us know if he has a somewhat minor injury that they are trying to minimize contact with and therefore limiting his runs. Regardless, Hoke is definitely preferring to protect DR...and based on DG's plays so far, can't say as I blame him.
2. Until they actually throw to DR when DG is QB, that entire gimmick is useless. A WR screen to DR would be nice to see. Until then, there's no need to even have a CB covering him out wide, just line the CB up on the opposite side of scrimmage and spy on him after he inevitably moves across the formation. The formation has lost its edge, they need to do more out of it and until they do it will prove ineffective for the most part as teams are ready and waiting for it. Same can be said for the rollout right, pass back left screen play. It proved effective for a few games, so now DCs are planning for it and are now showing they can beat it.
3. DG has demonstrated little to make me think he is the real future at UM. I'm thinking he will be lucky to get a full year as starter after DR leaves. His throws have been way off target and these young HS studs coming up will likely surpass DG very quickly. Maybe the real issue with the O is the QB coach??? Seems like these guys are having major difficulty with their mechanics. DR shows some promise when he has all day to throw, but the moment there is the slightest pressure he freaks out and reverts to a highly unorthodox throwing motion...not to mention throwing off his back foot.
4. Apparently many of you missed DR's rollouts to the right where Binn(?) was waiting for him and patiently stalked him until DR threw the ball right at him or in some other way had the play turn into something bad. DR couldn't figure out how to beat that guy, and that cost them several times.
5. Much of these points can be considered AB's responsibility to fix, so I'm mostly in agreement. One area I do disagree with though is that AB at least has recognized the skillset of his current roster and is trying to gameplan accordingly. That alone makes him and Hoke lightyears better than RR, et al.

I don't think he is gameplanning correctly. I guess we disagree on that. When I see on the bottom line, Denard Robinson throws 4 incomplete passes from the 3 yard line to end the game, I'm thinking why the hell didn't they run one of the most prolific runners in college football at least once?

I think Hoke needs to put on a headset more often. I'm not saying all game(I know he likes coaching during the game). But I am saying, why wait till things get tight? I know he doesn't want to step on toes, but this is his team, not the coordinators. Sometimes you can't wait till halftime or with 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter to ask why the hell shit isn't working?
