Another Poor Gun Victim of Violent Spree

sounds like he was playing Grand Theft Auto and took rampage mode literally...

wonder how many wanted stars he had in real life? He didn't shoot down a police helicopter with a rocket launcher, so it couldn't be more than 3.

All I know is that I could have just as easily been getting gas at Hwy-55 and McFadden Ave on the way to an appointment and been "murdered execution style" by this maniac ...

And I know, he could have carjacked a number of cars just as easily with a knife or spoon.

but if guns were restricted in any way, he would just get a bazooka and kill you with that instead, according to KAWDUP.

Well that and, why bother doing anything at this point? Not going to help. It's too late to react to a shocking increase in mass murders involving guns, just accept that it will happen more and more often.

Approves:

Wonder what would of happen, if the guy who got jacked would of been exercising his 2nd amendment right?

I can assure you it would of been different had it been my car. Its a same for senseless loss of life, and I pray for the families who lost their loved ones. Including the shooters family.

The guy who made the most $$$$ at Rockstar* games off GTA is such a pussy that he doesn't make eye contact with anyone ....rich little British shit pussy.

Buddy of mine worked there for GTA and the whole 'hot coffee' ordeal

60-something yr old man getting gas on his way from Newport Beach to Santa Ana shouldn't have to arm himself to get gas and shouldn't have to worry about being executed.

Not in this "great nation" anyways.

huh. I imagine it would be fun as hell to be one of the writers for those games.

I agree, but taking away freedoms because of idiots shouldn't happen in the "great nation" either.

Neither should electing incompetent law makers, but it happens.

For the record, I am rarely armed, but I know how to defend myself from an attack. So if your going to shoot me do it far off. However, I know plenty of 60+ year old people who are packing.

At the time Rockstar* was small and people worked 24-hour days, and loved the sadomasochism of it all. The level of nerddom is beyond my thinking and my buddy is a very well-adjusted B-School grad who isn't the most extroverted, but who is normal.

You have to think GTA was in some respects a giant catharsis for dozens of wedgies and noogies and hurtful words over the years.

And I get "responsible gun ownership" I just think Americans are too stupid and fucked to be considered responsible! Given recent events.

I'm sorry, but I gotta call you on this. (and your second post)

It's easy to sit and say over a message board how brave and tough we all might be if it were us, but it's another thing when you're staring at the loud end of a shotgun.

It might look all fine and dandy when you play the scenario in your head, but you probably forget the fact that you're likely in shock when you first realize whats happening, and then you lose most of any edge you might have had.

The internet tough-guy approach just simply does not apply to these situations.

Know where Ive been before you start calling me out. I am not just talking about the training that I have been through. Sure I have been run through multiple shooter situations and even trained to disarm combatants. Hell Ive been shot at way before I became a LEO, its a scary situation. But right or wrong I couldn't just sit and wait for someone to make my decisions for me. I sure as hell hope it never happens, but sitting and waiting for something to happen is not what I will ever do.

Action beats reaction.

Now with all of that said, could I still freeze and be so deeply in shock not to react? Yeah it is entirely possible, but why would you train yourself to die? Maybe most people don't even think about shit like this, and I am probably bat shit crazy to even think I would need to "prep" for anything of this nature. But I do on a small scale level, I don't like crowds of people or any big city, and I don't trust people at all in general.

Didn't mean to highjack the thread. Its a shame these people lost their lives, and dude with the shotgun probably had more issues than we know. Also I always thought the GTA games where crap and never really liked them. my .02.

Yeah, I'm sure you got my position right here.

. . . oh wait . . . not even fucking close.

Typical Champ humor - drag me into the conversation to make up for your own inadequacies.

What about the guys mental state, could have been a genetic flaw that caused this. Maybe we should remove his parents since they are thenlikely cause of the whole thing to begin with, whether from genetic makeup, poor parenting, or both.

Yep, definitely need to resolve the actual problem, but instead blame the guns. Nothing beats taking the easy road.

Why does everyone carrying concealed automatically just assume if they were "exercising their 2nd amendment right" that everything would work out for them? It might.

I could just as easily see Mr. 2nd Amendment trying to pull out his gun, shoot himself in the leg, struggle and writh around in his car fumbling with the seat belt, dropping said gun, then being executed. The only accomplishment in that scenario is that you looked really stupid in the brief moments before death. In fact, I think this "failed hero" scenario is probably more likely than a heroic stop of the gunman and a victory parade.

Just to be clear this is not a comment on you so much as a general attitude that I find comical. Pretty much everyone who owns a gun thinks they're James Bond.

And every idiot with an internet connection gets to spout their own stupid version of reality without consequences.

Doesn't change the fact that some people with guns in that situation would be very capable of defending themselves just as much as some tool would act the fool. Nonetheless, if that is the way that individual chooses to go down, they have the right to spend those last few moments fighting instead of meekly going to their death.

And doesn't change the fact that a certain percentage of those people "defending themselves" are likely to miss what they're shooting at and hit an innocent bystander.

The solution to ending gun violence is not more guns on the street, I can't believe some people are fucking dumb enough to buy into that philosophy.

But like you said every idiot (NRA) with an internet connection...

Yup it's their right. It's also my right to ridicule the would be James Bond and just how far his "protection" got him.

Fact is, carrying a gun for most people is simply a psychological boost in safety rather than an actual one.
