Crap my nephew's team Mason may be in trouble now after starting 4-0 with a very suspect schedule and only 6 seniors they have lost back to back games to Charlotte 42-3 and Jackson Lumen Christi 39-3 .. And now they have a hopefully easy win verses a 0-6 team coming up but then two tough games to end the season @ Waverly who is 4-2 and @ Crosswell Lexington who is 6-0 and ranked. I think they have to win the next two games.. Crosswell probably has them circled as Mason ended Lexington's 8-0 record last year.. Still a 5-4 record with that few seniors is still good in my book.. Hopefully they will dig deep and figure out a way to get it done and get to 6 wins..

My daughters school Byron Center has turned their season around at 1-3 and have won a couple of games I did not think they would win. 7-3 at Middleville in a rain storm soaked field.. Now Middleville is not very good but BC changed QB's and were coming off 3 tough losses in a low.. The next game was a shocker to me.. They went to 4-1 Hamilton who is owned us the last 10 years and won going away 42-21...Funny the all-time record was 20-20 or thereabouts but it was tied.. Now with three games left they have one home game this week verses 0-6 Holland they should win and road games verses Unity Christian 4-2 and Holland Christian 2-4... At 3-3 they have a shot now to get to 6 wins...

Is HS football still where few teams get in the playoffs or does more teams get in now?

No Last 10-15 years it has been 6 wins in a nine game schedule or 5 wins in a eight game schedule get you in... 256 spots make the playoffs broken up into 8 division based on schools size ..Now just about every year they do not have enough 6-3 teams to fill the spots so they take the best 5-4 teams and 4-4 teams based on computer points... They load up the top 256 teams and go 1 to 256 based on school size and break it up into 8 divisions. Every year about 5-20..... 4-4 and 5-4 teams make it

Mitch in our day you had to go 9-0 or 8-1 just to have a shot to make the playoffs and few 7-2 teams made it..

I like the new system.. They changed it after I moved out west and I did not know about it until I was a able to pull fox sports detroit on Comcast for a few years and i could watch the high school playoffs from michigan on thanksgiving ... I remember Menominee crushing my high school Haslett 42-6 in 1998.. Pretty sure it happened around that time give or take a few years...
