AP

I agree...i think Swift needs to be the bell cow and AP comes in to get 6 - 10 carries a game. If anything to keep the defense guessing....Swift can be a threat on both run and pass downs. AP...not so much. Maybe the rookie is having a difficult time in pass pro?....i dunno.

AP seems to rip off runs early in games, let him do that, but getting Swift and KJ involved more often has got to happen. I agree on what you think APs workload should be and think KJ should see a similar workload, the rest Swift. If pass pro is an issue with the rook, let AP be in there on some of the obvious passing downs

a feather in the cap of the Lion's brass. Draft a player in the 2nd round then pick up a vet. on the "scrap heap" to be the starter.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...oll-veteran-adrian-peterson-lead-running-back

They drafted 2 RBs in the 2nd round in 3 drafts, and then picked up a 35 year old to start.

Peterson has looked fine, the line has made some holes for him, but a top half of the league RB would be tearing it up right now. Kerryon looks like a borderline practice squad player though, he's a bust.

Jury is still out on Swift, but he needs some reps.

The new regime will be looking for a RB in the draft in the next 2 years...

Not sure why people are upset. People were upset and/or thought we were dumb when we signed AP because we cut a 5th round pick. Getting AP on a minimal contract was one of the few gifts that’s happened to Detroit. AP is better and more durable than over half of the starting RBs in the league.

AP getting reps over Swift, is not a knock on the rookie. He’s a top 15 RB in the world at age 35!

When you have a rebuild team (when aren't we rebuilding), go with the young guy. Always. There's no point on not giving Swift 12-15 carries at least. AP carries don't do a thing. Regardless how he does.

Its not a rebuild situation..especially for these coaches. Thwt should be obvious. Rebuilds are more obvious with bigger changes..

Also if it was a rebuild. Not overworking Swift could be a good thing. Dont want to make a rookie a workhorse for when we need him in later years

Peterson a great addition and really bolstered the run game. Kj and swift have low ypc but used more in passing game..swift clearly added to be that type of back

AP is only "top 15" due to the work load he's getting. Most backfields are a rb by committee approach. But he we are saying we're going to feature a 35 yr old with no lateral mobility or quickness left in him. Smartest guys in the room!

Having 2 young backs fresh midseason when APs health starts deteriorating doesn't sound bad to me. I still would rather see the young guys in there than solely AP right now

He's averaging almost 5 ypc

looking at the rushing stats and you are right...AP is a top 15 back right now. You know who is right above him, James Robinson of Jacksonville...an undrafted rookie. The Lions have holes everywhere on defense and they waste a 2nd round pick on a RB. RBs are a dime a dozen if you have a line that can make a hole. IIRC some people here liked Antonio Winfield...he only has 2 sacks, a forced fumble, and 2 INTs through 3 games.

2nd round pick wasted on a blocking rb that comes in 6 times a game. Fucking awesome!

78 snaps AP
59 snaps Kerryon
60 snaps Swift

AP is not taking over. Kerryon and Swift have done some good things. Bevell is the one who brought up Kerryon as a very important piece for the win.

Do you know how many undrafted RBs are not in the top 15. So many of them suck. You know AP is cheap right. You know KJ and Swift do other things well too. Pass pro, receiving. And they get touches. It's a committee. Jax has one workhorse after wasting a 1st on Fournette and other draft picks on other backs that got beat out by an undrafted guy

He wasn't drafted to be a blocking TE.

He was drafted to be a RB. Pass protection can be a big part of that. As well as receiving. Catching and routes to free up other people (see Jesse James TD) And of course running the football.

Snap count is fairly even. Peterson producing

he beat out Dare Ogunbowale (undrafted) Ryquell Armstead (5th rounder) & Chris Thompson (5th rounder)

The Lions have Kerryon Johnson (2nd rounder) & Swift (2nd rounder) who were both drafted to be starters. You don't waist a 2nd round pick on a RB unless you are drafting him to be an impact player right away.

As far as them contributing, Johnson has 18 carries for 62 yards and 1 catch for 14 yards. Swift has 8 carries for 20 yards and 9 catches for 94 yards.

Total production for the two of them.

26 carries for 82 yards
10 catches for 108 yards

per game production out of TWO 2nd round picks

9 carries for 27 yards (3YPC)
3 receptions for 36 yards

That's not one player...that's the TOTAL for the both of them.:lmao:

The Jags cut Fournette you dope. Talk about a waste

Kerryon and Swift are running routes well and pass pro. Yes they need more production but clearly have potential. Peterson, on a cheap contract and great job by Quinn, is producing. And clearly the Lions need all 3 and clearly AP wasn't available when both of those guys got drafted.
