Are you impressed?

I thought Michigan played about as expected, unlike in each of the last two games.

Gardner was a little inaccurate on a couple of throws, and the defense didn't contain that freshman Minnesota QB when he tucked and ran after pass protection started to break down on him as well as one might have liked, especially in the first half.

Minnesota came in with a pretty good record; they may end up having a reasonably good season when all is said and done.

Another one down, 5-0, team has gotta get better every week.

Yup, not to mention - while it sucks that OSU won yesterday it does mean that both Iowa and NW now both have a loss in the big ten.

The thing about DG is that some of his passes were right on the mark, so he is capable of doing it. I was surprised by that throw to Dileo for the 3rd down conversion late in the game. Dileo was wide open and there was really no pressure on DG. It was an easy pass to complete, but DG threw it high and behind Dileo. Dileo did get his hands on it so it should have been a catch all be it a tough one. They needed to burn clock at that point and going 3 and out was not good. That kind of thing could be costly in close games (which NW and ohio* may turn out to be).

But the point is that DG is definitely capable and hopefully the momentum that the O had at the end of the game will carry on next week, and improvements will continue. The team will need to continue to improve each game if they hope to beat NW and ohio* and win the B1G this year. DG and the O will need to be playing at their peak vs those two teams.

The D wasn't too bad yesterday, though the secondary is still inadequate. Hopefully this along with the pass rush will improve with Jake Ryan's return. Getting pressure on the QB will be crucial against both NW and ohio*.

With NW losing to ohio* yesterday and Wisky's loss to ohio* the week before, once again the only thing standing between the darkness and depravity that is ohio* and the salvation of the world is Michigan.

GO BLUE!

I was impressed for the most part. I thought the defense played well except for that agonizing 9 minute drive. O line seemed a notch better.

I'm worried about the Pipkins injury though.

yep. also, Gardner took care of the ball. no turnovers! fucking finally.

Michigan rolls on, the whiners keep whining, everyone else just tunes in and roots for their team.

it's true we may not be intimidating opponents into pissing their pants and falling apart, but at the same time, we're managing games well, not panicking, and improving each week.

Will be nice to see if @UConn can be considered a true road test, and we won't have any mistake prone play (which will be key) @Penn State next week. this game is going to be close.

the emergence of Funchess is also huge because now PennSt has to worry about him more... and maybe they'll forget about Gallon.

Gallon is about the size of a small boy. If anyone is going to forget or neglect Gallon, my money is on Penn State!

heh.

our fanbase hasn't had a chance to make tasteless jokes about Penn St. for far too long.

I think the idea is that Gallon will be neglected the way PSU neglected to take action to address the issue with Sandusky.

At least when he is not needed at TE. I called this when Darboh went down.

Funchess lining up at WR with Butt inside intrigues me very much.
Gardener rolling out to their side puts a lot of size in the flat for run-pass option or even ~cough~ bubble screen

We all know that Borges does not believe in WR screens.

Ed Cunningham entered Michigan Stadium yesterday with Gardner inaccuracy as a talking point. In some ways I can't blame him. He has a job to do and he tried to do it. The way Gardner played the previous two games, I could see a color guy coming in with those points to be made. But a really good color guy recognizes what is happening in the game that moment, and adjusts. No one will ever call Ed Cunningham a really good color guy.

My biggest criticism of the entire game is Ed's desire to find fault with Gardner. The color commentary was horrible and unfair, and I screamed at him atleast 4 times for talking with blinders on. When Gardner put the ball where only the reciever could have a chance at it he was criticised for not hitting him in stride. It happened multiple times. If the O-line is going to allow the pass rush to come through, Gardner is the guy we need back there because his feet are as dangerous as his arm.

Remember, Morris is strictly a drop back passer. Maybe he will be the most accurate, best passer we have ever seen, but if the pass rush continues to penetrate he would be mostly ineffective. Remember John Navarre? I would rather have Gardner in there. Gardner is very talented, and if he continues to make good decisions is our best chance at a title.

Amen Brother.

It would be nice if we had some sort of screen game. It seems like Borges calls about 2 screen passes per season.

funny how much a little guy like Vincent Smith is missed when he isn't there ....and of who we do have, Justice Hayes seems most appropriate for that aspect of the offense.

I agree. A solid change of pace type RB would be a nice thing to have this season. I was hoping Norfleet could fill that role. Oh well.

hoke has said for now use funchess as tight end...they want him focused on one position for now

great target at 6'6"
