I think his knees are shot and he has lost most of his athleticism. When those things are gone, the only thing you can do is shoot jumpers.
With the clippers he shot 51.2% from the floor and taking less than one three a game. With the Pistons he shoots 44.2% from the floor and is taking 6.6 threes a game. Because he is taking so many threes, his effective FG% is still above 50% (50.4) compared to 52.4% with the clips. Of course, his offensive rebounds (2.4 to 1.2) and total rebounds (9.3-6.9) are down because he's shooting from outside so much. He was never a good defender, but he is worse now because he lost some of his athleticism.
